Houston Texans say prison costume worn by Jadeveon Clowney not a shot at owner Bob McNair
-
Yes, it's a commonly used expression, but just because it's a commonly used expression doesn't mean it's an appropriate one in all circumstances. When you've got mostly black players protesting (and mostly black here doesn't just refer to the players that are protesting) for the way that police are treating black people in this country, it's best not to refer to those players as inmates. It's shit like this that makes me have absolutely no interest in being any sort of public figure. You've gotta think through every single word you say and this is a scenario where McNair just didn't take the two seconds to think before he opened his mouth. I'm sure he said this a few times in private before he said it to a reporter, and he should have realized at that point that it's not a phrase he could use publicly.

Was Sendejo's hit on Mike Wallace worthy of a suspension?
oochymp replied to Thanatos's topic in General NFL Talk
BWare, the biggest issue I have with your argument is that it presumes the hit was necessary, all you're saying is that it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I fully disagree with that assessment, Wallace was in the grasp of another defender (#29, I'm not sure who that is and don't care to look it up) and was going to the ground, there was absolutely no reason for Sendejo to get involved. He absolutely could have stopped running and Wallace would have gone down, instead he decided to run through Wallace. Now, I said that was my biggest issue, but it's far from my only issue with your argument, I also don't think he did anything to avoid a hit or mitigate how bad it was going to be. As Wallace was going down Sendejo drops his shoulder and drives it into Wallace, sure he might not have been aiming for the head, but you've gotta know with Wallace falling that his head could end up in your path. And seriously, what play are you watching? That was nowhere near shoulder to shoulder, the first contact was absolutely helmet to helmet. I haven't been watching as much NFL lately, part of that is that I'm busier than I have been in years past, but part of it is that every game I watch seems to include at least one hit like this where I'm just cringing. The NFL does have a problem and it's this type of hit, which is why I absolutely think he needed to be suspended. -

Amari Cooper scored more fantasy points yesterday than he totalled in the first six weeks of the season, which is why I have 44 points on my bench

this has been a highly entertaining game

Let's not forget Pittsburgh has a 10-1 loss on the season

Good point, I didn't realise the Flyers were coming off three days rest, Caps had played twice since the Flyers last game, terrible scheduling
-
We're relying on a lot of young defensemen and it definitely showed yesterday, not saying it wasn't a great game by Philly, 8-2 is great no matter whip you're playing, but you shouldn't increase your perception of the game based on the opponent

I know it's way too early to care about such things, but there's currently a three way tie in the individual points standings between Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Kuznetsov

DC Sports, what else is new?

This week made one thing clear, if we're going to invest in Mariota long term (which we absolutely should, and will) we're gonna need to pay a lot more attention to our backup QB spot. Cassel is not a capable NFL quarterback at this point in his career and Mariota is going to miss a few games. That's not necessarily career debilitating for Mariota, Roethlisberger has been considered one of the top QBs in the league for the last decade and in his 13 seasons he's only played 16 games 3 times, but we need someone who can step in and give us a chance to win for the handful of games Mariota will probably miss each year.

anyone who thinks Kaepernick is still a free agent for purely football reasons needs to watch this game

Mass Shooting at Concert in Las Vegas
oochymp replied to BwareDWare94's topic in Politics, Religion & Science
Vegas is also a major tourist destination, meaning a lot of people staying at those hotels (and really, hotels in general) are probably going to be getting a lot of souvenirs. I imagine that the fucker wasn't bringing in gun cases, is it really that suspicious for someone to be bringing a lot of bags to their hotel room? Would you really be on board with letting a hotel search your bags? There are plenty of safe, legal reasons you might not want the hotel rummaging through your bags, maybe you've got a bunch of sex toys you don't want to show off, or have sensitive paperwork, or even more innocuous imagine you're going on a vacation with your girlfriend and plan to propose at some point, would you want that surprise spoiled when the hotel pulls out a diamond ring searching your bags? -
Ovechkin is currently on pace for 246 goals

Patriots, I'll get the rest of my picks in later

I think that's the first time I've ever won a fantasy game based on garbage time points from my defense

Considering that Fat Al only got five games for taking Andre Gurode's helmet off and stomping on his head six seeks excessive, but it should definitely be a multi-game suspension. Though Fat Al's suspension was a whole ago, so maybe with the increased sensitivity a longer suspension could happen.
