BLUE 1,026 Posted August 16, 2011 Per Rotoworld.com: Larry Fitzgerald has a clause in his contract that prevents him from being franchise tagged. The story was first reported by ProFootballTalk. If Fitzgerald is not signed to an extension before the end of this season, the Cardinals can do nothing to prevent him from becoming an unrestricted free agent. However, the two sides are already talking and GM Rod Graves has said Fitzgerald will become one of the highest-paid players in the league. A deal is highly likely to get done. Shotgun 442 Posted August 16, 2011 I still don't see him going anywhere else. After getting Kolb there's no way they are letting one of the best receivers in the league go, and Larry is the type of person that would want to stay on the team and may even take a little less pay in order to do so. BLUE 1,026 Posted August 18, 2011 Per Rotoworld.com: Larry Fitzgerald says he is "not too far away" from reaching a contract extension with the Cardinals. The two sides have been in negotiations for at least a couple weeks now, with GM Rod Graves saying that securing Fitzgerald long-term is his No. 1 priority. We'd expect a deal to get done before Fitzgerald's self-imposed Sept. 4 deadline. Fitz will become one of the game's highest-paid players and perhaps set the bar for holdout Chris Johnson. BC 331 Posted August 19, 2011 We have found our share of success and show lots of promise for the future. We sell out every game and attract marquee free agents to our squad. Thanks for the wisdom though :beerchug2:
