Shotgun 442 Posted August 19, 2011 (edited) Report: Jonathan Baldwin hurts wrist in locker room fight Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 19, 2011, 1:05 PM EDT Chiefs first round wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin was mysteriously missing from Chiefs practice on Wednesday. A radio report in Kansas City hinted there may be more to the story, but we passed on mentioning it until more information came out. Well, it's out now. If Nick Wright of 610 radio in Kansas City is right, the story is a doozy. Wright reports that Baldwin will likely miss the rest of the preseason after injuring his wrist during a locker room scuffle with teammate Thomas Jones. Baldwin's work ethic has reportedly been an issue. "He's as advertised," a source tells Wright. "Diva, spoiled, doesn't wanna listen. Can run a Go and a Slant, and doesn't wanna work." The Chiefs flew to Baltimore on Thursday in preparation for Friday's preseason game. The team hasn't said whether Baldwin was on the flight with them. Baldwin was already struggling in Chiefs camp before this news came out. He looks unlikely to play much early in the year. Bad news for the Chiefs and their 1st rounder. I'm guessing he had the balls to call out the diva rookie whom didn't want to seem like a pussy and thus the scuffle occurred. Chiefs definitely don't need any of this bs. Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted August 19, 2011 This is why I didn't like the drafting of Baldwin, especially in the late first in the draft... Everyone knew that Baldwin was a lazy player. Extremely talented and tons of potential.... But so lazy. And that has translated into the NFL now. I hope Todd and the Chiefs can turn him around, kinda like what they did with Bowe... Turry 755 Posted August 20, 2011 Kevin Kietzman of 810 WHB in Kansas City confirms that Jonathan Baldwin has a cracked thumb -- not a broken wrist as initially reported.Nick Wright of 610 Kansas City has since changed his report to state that Baldwin's injury is to his thumb. Regardless, it's a multi-week injury and will kill any chance Baldwin had at a Week 1 starting job. Per Keitzman, the Baldwin-Thomas Jones fight began when the rookie "got into a heated exchange" with Jamaal Charles in Tuesday's practice. Baldwin and Jones later came to blows, and "ome vets indicate they can’t stand Baldwin’s sense of entitlement." Leading up to the draft, NFL Network's Mike Mayock reported that Baldwin "had a well-earned reputation as a diva." It's carried over from Pitt to the NFL. Turry 755 Posted August 22, 2011 Thomas Jones practiced fully Sunday despite his reported locker room fight with rookie WR Jonathan Baldwin.Baldwin is doubtful for the rest of the preseason with a wrist injury, but Jones emerged from the scuffle just fine. He is unlikely to face any discipline from the team as Baldwin was in the wrong by all accounts. Jones remains a low-end handcuff that figures to lose more and more carries to Jamaal Charles as the season goes on.
