Milla4Prez63 678 Posted April 8, 2012 Buccaneers signed DT Amobi Okoye to a one-year, $2 million contract.A former first-round pick, Okoye started 59 games over the past five seasons, and will likely be part of a three-man rotation with 2011 starters Gerald McCoy and Brian Price. Entering his age-24 campaign, Okoye has upside, and is capable of providing an interior pass rush. He registered four sacks in 16 appearances with the Bears last season. Nice depth signing. With Price and McCoy's injury history we need someone who can step in and give us solid play. Plus, he is someone I've always liked since the draft in 2007 so I like seeing him here, even if he didn't turn out as good as I thought.
AllYouNeedIsLovie 377 Posted April 8, 2012 Like the signing. Definitely could use DT depth with Price and McCoy not being able to stay healthy so far. Okoye is still very young and has potential. Really liking our d-line if it can stay healthy........ Clayborn, Bowers, Bennett, McCoy, Price, Okoye. Lots of good bodies there that we can rotate in and stay fresh. Milla4Prez63 678 Posted April 8, 2012 He is a bust considering his draft status, but he's been a solid pass rushing DT in a 4-3 defense. I think he'll help in a D-line rotation and get time as a 3rd down pass rusher. It prevents us from having to play a lot of Roy Miller and/or John McCargo if injuries happen. Okoye at two million is a better bargain than Haynesworth at seven million. Probably a better play at this point too.
AllYouNeedIsLovie 377 Posted April 8, 2012 This should also allow us to get rid of Roy Miller. Thank god, he is so bad.
Milla4Prez63 678 Posted April 8, 2012 I doubt we get rid of Roy Miller. We'll carry at least four DTs and I can't see them keeping McCargo or whoever over him.

Miller is one of the most useless players I have ever seen. He gets pushed back 5 yards every play.
