Official 2012 Signed Draft Picks Thread

Recommended Posts

Redskins signed seventh-round DB Jordan Bernstine to a four-year contract.

Just a one-year starter at Iowa, Bernstine generated buzz late in the draft process following a tremendous Pro Day workout. He had an explosive 10-foot-7 broad jump and 41-inch vertical, in addition to running the forty-yard dash in something between 4.34 and 4.44 seconds. Bernstine projects as a possible special teams gunner in D.C. He can play both safety and cornerback.

Redskins signed seventh-round CB Richard Crawford to a four-year contract.

The 213th pick in the draft, Crawford goes 5-foot-11, 191 and earned All-CUSA accolades for his work as both a punt returner and corner under June Jones at SMU. He'll compete in training camp for Washington's No. 5 cornerback spot.

49ers agreed to terms with No. 199 overall pick C/G Jason Slowey on a four-year contract.

The weight-room warrior played left tackle at Western Oregon, but is projected to center in the pros.

He attracted NFL interest after excelling in Players All-Star Classic practices. Slowey will back up Jonathan Goodwin provided he makes the final roster as a rookie.

Jets signed WR Stephen Hill, the No. 43 overall pick in the draft, to a four-year, $5 million contract.

He received $2.8 million in guarantees. Last year's 43rd overall pick, Kyle Rudolph, got $3.91 million over four years. Although Hill was considered raw in the draft community, the Jets believe he can run a full route tree as a rookie and expect him to start opposite Santonio Holmes. It's just not a strong fantasy situation in a run-first offense without a hint of quarterback stability.

Bears agreed to terms with WR Alshon Jeffery, the No. 45 overall pick, on a four-year contract.

The first member of the 2012 draft class is signed quickly, thanks in large part to the new rookie wage scale. Last year's No. 45 pick, Rahim Moore, signed a four-year, $4.448 million contract with a $1.73 million signing bonus. Jeffery will vie for the starting job opposite Brandon Marshall this summer, though he may need a year of development before making a significant fantasy impact.

Redskins signed fifth-round G/C Adam Gettis to a four-year contract.

A favorite of the Sporting News' Russ Lande, Gettis is undersized at 6-foot-2, 293 pounds, but was one of the top performers amongst all offensive linemen at the Combine. Perfectly suited for Mike Shanahan's zone-blocking scheme, Gettis should see snaps at center in addition to guard during camp, but will be a pure reserve as a rookie.

Vin is goin hard in the paint... lol.

Thought it would be handy :yep:

Steelers signed fourth-round NT Alameda Ta'amu to a four-year contract.

With incumbent starting nose tackle Casey Hampton still recovering from his third knee surgery, Ta'amu is already being talked up as the team's possible Week 1 starter at the position. Sporting News' Russ Lande recently said he believes Ta'amu was the best nose tackle available in this year's draft. He'll see competition for reps from Steve McLendon, but expect Ta'amu to emerge.

Jets signed sixth-round DB Josh Bush to a four-year contract.

Although Bush is versatile enough to play cornerback, the Wake Forest standout is expected to primarily play safety for the Jets. He figures to mostly focus on special teams during his rookie campaign, but should push for a few snaps at safety behind Eric Smith and LaRon Landry.

Steelers signed fifth-round RB/WR/KR Chris Rainey to a four-year contract.

Rainey played slot receiver and tailback at Florida, also returning kicks and punts. Coach Mike Tomlin has noted that Rainey's speed jumped off the page in the SEC, which usually means it will translate to the pros. Rainey may never be a big fantasy contributor, but he could be an asset in Pittsburgh in a Dexter McClusterian role. He'll have to make the 53-man roster first, of course.

Redskins doing work.

Redskins signed sixth-round RB Alfred Morris to a four-year contract.

He's the fourth Redskins draft pick to sign, joining fifth-rounder Adam Gettis and seventh-round DBs Richard Crawford and Jordan Bernstine. Morris makes sense as a system fit in Washington's zone scheme, but lacks NFL-caliber running talent. While he will stay at tailback for the time being, Morris could eventually move to fullback. He's a solid blocker and lacks speed.

Redskins signed sixth-round OT Tom Compton to a four-year contract.

He's Washington's fifth draft pick to sign, leaving just RG3, Josh LeRibeus, Kirk Cousins, and Keenan Robinson to get under contract. Compton, the 193rd overall pick, goes 6-foot-5, 313 with 34-inch arms, giving him necessarily length to stay at tackle. Compton is a zone-blocking system fit because he can get to the second level. He'll play guard or right tackle in D.C.

The surprise of the first round of the 2012 draft has become the first 2012 first-round pick to sign a contract.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Seahawks have agreed to terms with defensive end Bruce Irvin.

The team’s decision to make Irvin the 15th pick in the draft sparked heavy criticism, primarily from draft experts who didn’t realize that Irvin had quietly become one of the hotter players on the board. At least seven teams rated him in the top 15, and the 49ers put him through a private workout in the days preceding the draft.

The new CBA makes the process of signing draft picks considerably easier. Irvin presumably will get what the 15th pick a year ago received, with an increase based on the increase in the rookie pool.

By rule, it will be a four-year deal with a team-held option for a fifth year. If the option is exercised, Irvin will receive in 2016 the average salary paid to the third-highest paid defensive end, through the 25th.[/Quote]

For the record, here's the eight players who've reached agreements with Seattle: Irvin, LB Bobby Wagner of Utah State, QB Russell Wilson of Wisconsin, LB Korey Toomer of Idaho, CB Jeremy Lane of Northwestern State, S Malcolm Guy of Kentucky, OL J.R. Sweezy of North Carolina State and DE Greg Scruggs of Louisville.

Chargers have signed both Ingram and Reyes

The San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms with their two top draft picks, linebacker Melvin Ingram (taken 18th overall) and defensive tackle Kendall Reyes (No. 49), the team's official website reported Tuesday.

Eagles signed No. 46 overall pick LB Mychal Kendricks to a four-year contract.

One of the draft's fastest linebackers, Kendricks is believed to be ticketed for the strong side in Philly after playing inside in Cal's 3-4 scheme last year. ESPN's Bill Polian called Kendricks "the best 4-3 attacking linebacker in the draft except for Luke Kuechly." The Eagles are high on his pass-rushing potential in addition to his ability to cover tight ends.

Ravens agreed to terms with No. 130 overall pick S Christian Thompson.

The Ravens appreciate Thompson's ability to play either safety spot in addition to his experience as a gunner and returner on special teams at South Carolina State. At 6'0" and 211 pounds, Thompson paced all safeties at the Combine with a 4.46 forty. He'll add much-needed depth behind Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard.

Source: Carroll County Times

Ravens agreed to terms with No. 60 overall pick OG Kelechi Osemele.

Osemele offers prototypical tackle size with long arms and huge hangs, but he's expected to start his Ravens career on the interior. Although he hasn't played guard since his freshman season at Iowa State, the Ravens will add him to the mix for the starting left guard job left vacant by Ben Grubbs' exit.

Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter

Ravens agreed to terms with No. 169 overall pick CB Asa Jackson on a four-year contract.

Baltimore is deep at cornerback with Lardarius Webb, Jimmy Smith, and Cary Williams. Jackson's biggest contribution will come on special teams, where he's expected to compete for both kickoff- and punt-return duties. Jackson averaged 14.7 yards on punt returns and 25.1 yards on kickoffs at Cal Poly.

Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter

Steelers agreed to terms with No. 231 overall pick WR Toney Clemons on a four-year contract.

Clemons was voted Colorado's most outstanding offensive player after recording 44 receptions for 680 yards and eight touchdowns last season. The Steelers are high on the Pittsburgh native's athleticism and envision him contributing on special teams if he makes the final roster.

Bears agreed to terms with No. 111 overall pick TE Evan Rodriguez on a four-year contract.

Rodriguez hauled in 35 passes for 479 yards and two touchdowns as a senior, production that GM Phil Emery believes was limited by a lack of opportunities in Temple's offense. The Bears view Rodriguez as a "move tight end" and H-back in the mold of Aaron Hernandez. His biggest rookie-season impact will likely come on special teams.

Chargers agreed to terms with No. 226 overall pick C David Molk on a four-year contract.

Knocked for being undersized at 6'1" and 298 pounds with short arms, Molk fell to the final round despite being named the nation's best center at Michigan last season. The Chargers hope he can develop into Nick Hardwick's successor.

Bears signed seventh-round CB Greg McCoy to a four-year contract.

With the Bears relatively set at cornerback, McCoy will have to make the team as a special teamer. An explosive kick returner at TCU, McCoy will have a fighting chance of cracking Chicago's 53.

Bears agreed to terms with sixth-round CB Isaiah Frey on a four-year contract.

Frey elevated his stock by running in the 4.4s at his Pro Day, and possesses good size (5'11/190) and physicality for a zone corner. He'll likely be eased in on special teams, but could emerge as a sub-package contributor by 2013.

Steelers signed seventh-round TE David Paulson to a four-year contract.

Paulson goes 6-foot-3, 247 and ran a 4.81 at the Combine. While obviously lacking an elite talent level, Paulson possesses soft hands and a knack for exploiting defensive soft spots. He'll try to make the Steelers as a No. 3 tight end.

Source: Ed Bouchette on Twitter

Steelers signed seventh-round CB Terrence Frederick to a four-year contract.

The Steelers' coaching staff views Frederick as a special teams and slot corner prospect, and he possesses an ideal skill set for the latter position. As a rookie, Frederick would do well to earn a role in sub-packages by season's end.

Source: Ed Bouchette on Twitter

Browns signed fourth-round LB James-Michael Johnson to a four-year contract.

Johnson was Nevada's starting middle linebacker last season, but Wolfpack coaches always believed his best position was WILL or SAM. With a big training camp, Johnson could push for a starting job. D'Qwell Jackson and Chris Gocong are locked in as starters, but the weak side is wide open in Cleveland.

Source: Scott Smith on Twitter

Browns signed seventh-round TE/FB Brad Smelley to a four-year contract.

Smelley measured 6-foot-2, 237 at his Pro Day, and ran a forty-yard dash in 4.76 and 4.77. His broad jump lacked explosion at 9-foot-4. Smelley is an H-back type with minimal strength and athleticism. We've heard him talked up in draftnik circles, but he's going to be hard pressed to make an NFL impact.

Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter

Lions agreed to terms with seventh-round LB Travis Lewis on a four-year contract.

Lewis was a well-known player at Oklahoma, racking up lots of tackles but lacking NFL-caliber measurables and rarely playing to his big name. He may end up going the same route as fellow former OU linebacker Rufus Alexander.

Source: Adam Caplan on Twitter

Bengals signed fifth-round S George Iloka to a four-year contract.

Iloka is a freak specimen at 6-foot-4, 225 with 34 1/2-inch arms, certainly possessing size to become a matchup player against the NFL's more athletic tight ends. Iloka is a shaky tackler in space, however, and not especially fluid in the hips. He is unlikely to push for significant playing time as a rookie.

Source: Eric Edholm on Twitter

Eagles signed sixth-round WR Marvin McNutt to a four-year contract.

A heralded quarterback recruit out of the St. Louis area, McNutt converted to wideout during his freshman year at Iowa and finished his career as the Hawkeyes' all-time leader in receiving yards. More of a straight-line athlete who plays without physicality, McNutt will struggle for snaps as a rookie.

Eagles signed fifth-round OT Dennis Kelly to a four-year contract.

A 6-foot-8, 321-pound project, Kelly has long enough arms (33 1/2 inches) to stay at tackle and is agile for a big man. He was a 240-pound high school tight end, but emerged as a 37-game starter at left tackle for Purdue. Kelly is a "finesse" blocker with athleticism, so he'll fit OL coach Howard Mudd's scheme. Kelly will likely spend his first year on the weekly inactives list.

Eagles signed DE Vinny Curry, the No. 59 overall pick, to a four-year contract.

The Eagles had a first-round grade on Curry entering the draft, so they couldn't help themselves from taking him late in the second. Incredibly productive with a relentless motor in college, Curry will compete with Brandon Graham, Phillip Hunt, and Darryl Tapp for snaps behind Trent Cole and Jason Babin as a rookie.

Ravens agreed to terms with No. 98 overall pick G/C Gino Gradkowski on a four-year contract.

Bruce's younger brother will begin his career vying for the vacant left guard job with Jah Reid and Kelechi Osemele. Long term, Gradkowski projects as Matt Birk's successor at center.

Source: Adam Caplan on Twitter

Packers agreed to terms with No. 133 overall pick S Jerron McMillian on a four-year contract.

Known for a willingness to throw his body around at Maine, McMillian recorded 88 tackles, including 10.5 for a loss as a senior. He gained pre-draft attention with an eye-opening 4.35 forty at his pro day in addition to a three-cone time of 6.69 at the Combine, best among strong safeties. The Packers hope he can eventually step into the void left by Nick Collins' release.

Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette

Bills agreed to terms with No. 147 pick ILB Tank Carder on a four-year contract.

The athletic Carder was a two-time Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year at TCU, recording 228 tackles, including 25 for a loss as a three-year starter. The Bills drafted Carder with an expectation that he would contribute immediately as a special teams demon.

Source: Kelli Masters Management on Twitter

Steelers agreed to terms with No. 56 overall pick OT Mike Adams on a four-year contract.

He's the fourth Steelers pick to sign. Coach Mike Tomlin has hinted Adams will be given an opportunity to start at left tackle. Adams has ideal blindside size at 6-foot-7, 323, but questions about his strength and quickness led many draftniks to peg him as a right tackle. Adams will compete with Marcus Gilbert at a position that was a source of great frustration for the 2011 Steelers.

49ers signed sixth-round FS Trent Robinson to a four-year contract.

Robinson is quite small for a free safety, but unlike Ahmad Black, he can run. He also throws his body around in the running game and flashes elite ball skills. We wouldn't be surprised to see Robinson make himself difficult to keep off the field as soon as his rookie year. He can also cover the slot.

Source: The Sideline View

49ers signed fifth-round OLB Darius Fleming to a four-year contract.

Fleming played all over the formation at Notre Dame, seeing action at both inside and outside 'backer and with his hand in the dirt. He'll be a special teamer and reserve initially, and could push for a Parys Haralson sort of role down the line. Fleming isn't dangerously explosive, but he is a sure tackler, plays through the whistle, and should have a long career.

Per Rotoworld.com:

Giants agreed to terms with sixth-round OT Matt McCants on a four-year contract.

McCants started 42 games at UAB, but he is a project lacking NFL-ready strength and technique. Fourth-rounder Brandon Mosley has a better chance of seeing action as a rookie, although the Giants have typically brought rookies along especially slowly. McCants won't be playing in 2012 barring the unexpected. May 9 - 9:24 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Ravens signed third-round RB Bernard Pierce to a four-year contract.

Drawing James Starks comparisons coming out of Temple, Pierce lacks an elite burst but possesses sub-4.5 buildup speed and is a high-cut 6-foot, 218 pounds. He has a long way to go to become viable in the passing game, however, and figures to be no more than a battering ram off the bench behind Ray Rice initially. May 10 - 11:50 AM

The Lions are steadily working their way through contracts for the players they drafted last month.

Tim Twentyman of the team’s website reports that cornerback Chris Greenwood, linebacker Tahir Whitehead and defensive end Ronnell Lewis have agreed to terms on their four-year contracts. All three players will be in town for the team’s rookie minicamp this weekend.

Lewis, a fourth-round pick from Oklahoma where he was teammates with the previously signed seventh rounder Travis Lewis and still unsigned second-round pick Ryan Broyles. Lewis was a bit of a tweener to NFL scouts who weren’t sure if he profiled as a defensive end or outside linebacker at this level. He’s similar in size to Cliff Avril, though, so he should fit at defensive end for the Lions. His rookie year will likely feature more special teams work, though.

Greenwood became the first player from Albion College to get drafted since 1967 when the Lions made him the 148th overall selection. Greenwood is 6’2″ and ran a sub-4.4 40 to burst onto draft lists after playing at such a small school. If his physical skills translate to on-field production, the Lions secondary will get a big boost from Greenwood’s presence. Whitehead went 10 picks earlier than Greenwood in the fifth round. He was a pass rusher off the edge at Temple, a role he could fill again for the Lions as an outside linebacker.

With four players signed, the Lions are halfway through the draft class. They should get the rest of the group done before the minicamp comes to an end.

Rookie signings are coming in at a crazy rate so I added all the ones that I've seen today to your main lists so you didn't have a cluster fuck of names to add when you logged in, Vincenzo (I didn't think you'd mind).

Here are some more from today:

Per Rotoworld.com:

Lions agreed to terms with rookie WR Ryan Broyles, the No. 54 overall pick, on a four-year contract.

A prolific, record-setting college wideout in Oklahoma's spread offense, Broyles lacks vertical skills to consistently win outside the numbers but could be an explosive long-term successor for Nate Burleson in the slot. Broyles' recovery from a torn ACL may land him on PUP to open the season, and he's unlikely to be a major factor in year one. We still like him as a second-round pick in dynasty leagues. He could be a major PPR asset as soon as 2013. May 10 - 12:23 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Browns agreed to terms with seventh-round CB Trevin Wade on a four-year contract.

Short on physical gifts, Wade ran 4.53 at February's Combine after measuring in at 5-foot-10, 192. Wade has short arms and lacks elite long speed, so he may have to emerge as a strong slot cornerback to carve out an NFL career. May 10 - 12:34 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Browns agreed to terms with No. 87 overall pick DT John Hughes on a four-year contract.

Although the Cincinnati coaching staff believed Hughes turned the corner in the second half of his senior season, they were only hoping that he would be a late-round pick. Reach though he may have been, the Browns envision him as a rotational tackle capable of spelling Phil Taylor and Ahtyba Rubin for 20-25 snaps per game. May 10 - 1:22 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Browns agreed to terms with No. 100 overall pick WR Travis Benjamin on a four-year contract.

Benjamin is on the small side at 5'10" and 175 pounds, but the Browns believe he can add a much-needed speed element to their wide receiver corps. Nicknamed the "Belle Glade Blur," Benjamin blazed a 4.36 forty at the Combine. His future is in the slot, but he'll have to hit the weight room before making a fantasy impact. May 10 - 3:31 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Ravens agreed to terms with No. 35 overall pick DE/OLB Courtney Upshaw on a four-year contract.

Originally expected to compete with Paul Kruger for the strong-side linebacker job, Upshaw is now ticketed for Terrell Suggs' role. The Ravens had a top-15 grade on Upshaw, who fell to them (just as Suggs did) in the second round after a disappointing Combine. He could be the next great Ravens linebacker. May 10 - 3:32 PM

And some more (there is a limit on the amount of quoted text you can have within a single post):

Per Rotoworld.com:

Browns agreed to terms with No. 160 overall pick OG Ryan Miller on a four-year contract.

Miller lacks a natural NFL position at 6'7" and 321 pounds, but the Browns drafted him with versatility in mind after starting 32 games at guard and 16 at right tackle with Colorado. Miller projects as a long-term swingman in Cleveland. May 10 - 3:58 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Bengals signed No. 156 overall pick CB Shaun Prater to a four-year contract.

For a small corner (5'10/185), Prater held his own in run support as a sure tackler at Iowa. He rarely played man coverage, however. The Bengals drafted him with his outside gunner experience in mind for help on special teams. May 10 - 4:25 PM

_________________

Per Rotoworld.com:

Steelers signed No. 248 overall pick OG Kelvin Beachum to a four-year contract.

Beachum has size (6'2/303) and strength deficiencies, but he's athletic with above-average body control and quickness. On the Board of Trustees as an SMU student, Beachum got high marks from the Steelers for his intelligence and moxie. The coaching staff will try to convert him to guard after playing the blindside with the Mustangs. May 10 - 4:47 PM

_________________

Per Rotoworld.com:

Ravens agreed to terms with No. 198 overall pick WR Tommy Streeter on a four-year contract.

Taking over the No. 1 receiver role from Leonard Hankerson, Streeter was too big and fast for college defensive backs as a junior. Although his inexperience, inconsistent hands, and raw route running scared teams off early in the draft, Streeter is an interesting flier as a future deep threat. May 10 - 5:03 PM

Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter

Per Rotoworld.com:

Seahawks agreed to terms with No. 114 overall pick DT Jaye Howard on a four-year contract.

Seattle drafted Howard likely on suggestion from former DL coach Dan Quinn, now coordinator of the Florida Gators. A productive pass-rushing tackle, Howard tallied five sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss in 2011. It remains to be seen if he will play the three-technique behind Alan Branch or the five-technique behind Red Bryant. May 10 - 5:11 PM

Source: ProFootballTalk on Twitter

Per Rotoworld.com:

Packers agreed to terms with No. 241 overall pick OT Andrew Datko on a four-year contract.

Datko was a rare true freshman all-American at left tackle for Florida State, but ongoing left shoulder woes plagued his junior and senior seasons. Viewed as a second-day prospect before surgery ended his 2011 season early, Datko now insists his shoulder has never felt better. He's a worthwhile low-risk, high-reward late-round pick by Green Bay. May 10 - 5:13 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Lions signed No. 196 overall pick CB Jonte Green to a four-year contract.

At just under 6'0" and 191, Green offers the requisite size and 4.41 speed with experience excelling in man coverage at New Mexico. Although he's set to enter a competition with Aaron Berry and fellow rookies Dwight Bentley and Chris Greenwood for a starting job, his most likely role is special teams. May 10 - 5:42 PM

signing a 7th rd. pick to a 4 year deal shows the Lions have a lot of faith in Lewis. Should be interesting to see if he can recover...

Everyone's getting a 4 year deal, which kinda sucks as far as having any intrigue goes. That, and the fact that the numbers of the deals aren't being released.

Bills agreed to terms with No. 124 overall pick CB Ron Brooks on a four-year contract.

Brooks is the pick the Bills received for trading Lee Evans to the Ravens. A good-sized nickel or dime corner with 4.37 jets, Brooks is billed as a special teams demon after starting just three games at LSU. The Bills love his punt-blocking ability and coverage skills.

Panthers agreed to terms with No. 216 overall S D.J. Campbell to a four-year contract.

Campbell must have been hand-picked by Ron Rivera. He attended Cal, Rivera's alma mater, after graduating high school with two of the coach's nieces. Campbell wasn't invited to the Combine after starting just one year with the Golden Bears. He's ticketed for special teams in Carolina.
