AllYouNeedIsLovie 377 Posted August 14, 2012 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/14/shaun-rogers-out-for-season-with-blood-clot-in-leg/ We mentioned earlier the rash of injuries the Giants are dealing with on the defensive line. One of them has already been confirmed to be a big one. Defensive tackle Shaun Rogers will be out for the seasonafter being diagnosed with a blood clot in his leg, per Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger. Giants coach Tom Coughlin expressed regret, saying Rogers had lost 50 pounds to get himself in shape for camp. They’re still waiting to hear word on defensive tackle Marvin Austin, who was sent back to New York early to get his back checked. Rogers, a 12-year veteran, was kicked in the leg in Friday’s preseason game, and was sent to see specialists including a vascular surgeon. The Giants lost offensive lineman Stacy Andrews to a blood clot last year as well. The Giants are going to be in the market for defensive tackle help soon, and what was once a strength is getting thinner by the minute.

JetsFan4Life 542 Posted August 15, 2012 Too bad if he was getting into a lot better shape. I know the Giants weren't expecting him to be a big part of the team so I'm not sure it really hurts them that much other than depth.
BC 331 Posted August 15, 2012 If you want a quality size DT, you pretty much have to get it by round 2 or 3 of the draft Never seems to be great quality DTs on the FA/trade market. Or if there are, they go for 40 large and bust. Brian Price to the Bears was probably a rare exception.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted February 7, 2013 Giants re-signed DT Shaun Rogers. Details are unavailable, but it's likely a one-year deal with no guaranteed money. Rogers, who's a month shy of his 34th birthday, missed all of 2012 with a blood clot in his leg. The three-time Pro Bowler has made just five starts since the end of the 2009 season, and is nothing more than a depth signing for a team that released Chris Canty on Wednesday.
