Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted June 24, 2014 Cornerback Brandon Flowers has agreed to terms with the Chargers, a league source tells CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Flowers visited the Chargers last week and drew interest from numerous teams after he was released by the Chiefs earlier this month. It's LaCanfora which means this is probably just Schefter trolling him again with misleading information.
Cherry 1,302 Posted June 25, 2014 Flowers-Verrett seems formidable.
KempBolt 498 Posted June 25, 2014 Pretty happy about this. Pagano's scheme fits Flowers' skillset a lot better than Sutton's. Gives us an above average starter on the outside, and we can sift through all the rest of the youngsters to figure out the other two major corner spots. KempBolt 498 Posted June 26, 2014 Footballoutsiders threw out a blurb noting the huge drop off in quality of play from 2012 to 2013. They noted that the major difference was that in 2012 he was left to play one side of the field on the outside with basically no moving around. And in 2013 he was constantly moving inside, outside, boundary, field, etc. Very interesting. Bodes well for San Diego, as Pagano generally likes to set his starters on the left and right sides of the defense and leave them there. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/extra-points/2014/san-diego-signs-brandon-flowers
Dutch 874 Posted June 27, 2014 He must have really felt burned and took it personal to sign your (football) life to a team just to play your former team. It's so much bigger than revenge when you're a free agent and have options of 32 possible teams. From a business standpoint, his motives seem misplaced but I hope it works out all the same. It's so much bigger than revenge when you're a free agent and have options of 32 possible teams. From a business standpoint, his motives seem misplaced but I hope it works out all the same. The revenge factor is huge, but I also think it's coupled with a desire to bet on himself for one season and rebuild his value for a long term contract. If his 2013 struggles were truly scheme related, and he plays more like the 2010-12 version of himself this season, he could possibly land a ~3 year contract somewhere with a bigger yearly average than what was offered this offseason. He will have just turned 29 when FA opens. But to rebuild his value he needs to be assured of two things: 1) that he's in a system that allows him to thrive, and 2) that he is assured a starting position on the outside, where he does his best work. He has those things in San Diego. And the fact that we are likely going to contend for a playoff spot with an elite QB is probably just gravy.
