Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted November 12, 2015 Eddie Lacy came into this season as one of the handful of best backs in the NFL. Now he's not even the best back on the Green Bay Packers. Mike McCarthy said on Wednesday that James Starks "is our No. 1 back right now going into Detroit." McCarthy added that he'll continue to go with a "one-two punch" and he doesn't believe in using just one back, but no matter how much he couched the news, it was clear what happened. Lacy has been benched. And it says something that nobody could possibly argue with the move. Starks has clearly been better. Article says everything you need to know. Starks is clearly better right now, he should have the spot. With that said, we will still do a RBBC, so I expect Lacy to see probably the same amount of action as he has up to this point (not a lot). http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/eddie-lacy-benched-as-his-inexplicably-bad-season-gets-worse-191213096.html
BwareDWare94 723 Posted November 12, 2015 What is up with Eddie right now? I mean, if he's on he's clearly better. Is it all conditioning? He's definitely way overweight right now. Perhaps not way over but it is noticeable.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) It's a combination of things. The Packers asking a 250 lb back to beat defenses to the edge for one. Another is not giving a bruising back like Lacy the sheer number of attempts he needs. He's only topped 15 carries twice this year and those were by far his best games of the season... Is that a coincidence? Surely not. He did pull a groin last week and had an ankle injury he dealt with for a couple weeks... Taking out his two productive games to focus on his bad games... He's averaging EIGHT carries a game, and it's not specific to him, but Zack found that the Packers are running 30% of their rush plays off their tackles. So Eddie gets 5-6 runs inside per game. What kind of production is anyone expecting? He gets better as the game winds down and his carries near 20 (he hasn't had 20 carries in a game yet this year). The Packers have asked him this year to be a #1 change of pace guy when he is a bruiser and workhorse and it's not working. Just the aggregate -19 grade off RT was for all Packers. Edited November 12, 2015 by Zack_of_Steel
