Vin+ 3,121 Posted September 12, 2016 Browns placed QB Robert Griffin III on injured reserve with a broken bone in his non-throwing shoulder. Specifically, Griffin has a "fractured coracoid bone." He will be re-evaluated in roughly a month. Griffin can be activated off injured reserve after eight games. Griffin's absence will be spun as a big loss, but the reality is it's been years since he was an effective player. RGIII had a middling preseason, and was bad before going down on Sunday. Josh McCown is probably an upgrade for the tanking Browns. He will be backed up by rookie Cody Kessler. Griffin isn't worth holding onto in any format, including Dynasty. Vin+ 3,121 Posted September 12, 2016 NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports it will be "very tough" for Robert Griffin III (left shoulder, I.R.) to return this season. Per RapSheet, RGIII will be reevaluated in 3-4 weeks and could need season-ending surgery after that. It's unclear what will happen if it's deemed he doesn't need surgery, but one would assume there's a lengthy rehab. Josh McCown is now the Browns' starter. RGIII will be a cut candidate next offseason after inking a two-year deal. The Browns again will search for a long-term QB.
