http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=20813321 Booger was great on Mike & Mike this morning, the best part is a five minute segment starting around the 9 minute mark TL;DR version -- we need to listen to people who disagree with us. To me this is the problem on both sides, everyone gets into the echo-chamber of Facebook and the rest of the internet and there's no effort to understand people who disagree. The left has this issue with the assumption that everyone who voted for Trump is a racist, the right has the issue with this situation with the assumption that everyone who won't stand for the National Anthem hates America. For a while I've been in the camp of "don't do this before my football, let me enjoy the games without interference from politics." What I'm realizing is that in saying that I'm basically saying "can't you do this protest somewhere that's easier for me to ignore?" I don't know what the answer is on this, it's a complicated question and those never have easy answers, but I'm sure it starts with listening. EDIT: somewhat predictably, the youtube link fell apart, so I've replaced the link with a link to the ESPN audio archive, that should last a bit longer

he might miss it initially, but he'll fix it after the fact if you've got a post before gametime, which is also why it's important to do a new post to change picks in late games once games have started

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIY6zFL95hE Can't wait, though I'm a little confused as to where it falls in the Defenders timeline, the origin nature would imply that it's before Daredevil Season 2, but Karen's presence in the trailer would indicate it's after? I'm guessing a little of both?

Is the NFC West back to being a shit division?

The -2 was from a defense, so that's to be expected with that scoreline

It's an interesting question, and honestly not one I've spent much time considering, that question being if you go to a single-payer system how do you avoid pulling in workman's comp? As you said, I don't think there's a simple answer, I don't think it would work to separate out workplace injuries because there'd be incredible pressure on people to not claim an injury as workman's comp if their healthcare is gonna be covered either way. One idea I kinda like would be to put a special tax on companies doing particularly hazardous work and putting that into the healthcare fund and assume it comes out in the wash. But I have no idea how you would determine which employers need to contribute in what amounts to that pool, because theoretically you'd want to mimic what companies currently pay out in workman's comp under the current system which varies by industry. Of course with that system you could end up with a race to the bottom. For example, let's look at construction workers, that feels like a common and hazardous job. If every construction company pays the same percentage in taxes to healthcare based on the industry average in job related injuries, you reduce the incentives for any individual construction company to reduce their job related injuries because their reduction in job related injuries isn't going to have much of an impact on the overall numbers. Maybe you could make individualized adjustments based on each companies safety history? But then you further complicate the calculations for contributions to the workman's comp fund. That's a lot of words to say I'm really not sure, but this is a complicated issue so I don't think we should expect an easy answer. -

Who are you willing to part with? I could stand to improve every position aside from RB (and K/DEF because they're interchangeable)

Well that would fall under workman's comp, which I agree should absolutely be covered by employers. I'm talking about medical costs for illnesses and shit that has nothing to do with work. -

I think you'd end up with a lot of people working part time. I should probably add that for this to work we'll need to separate health care from employment. -
anybody want a RB? I'll listen to offers for Devonta Freeman, Jay Ajayi, Leonard Fournette, and Christian McCaffrey

If you don't believe his accuser then why do you think he deserves to be out of the league?

I'm absolutely not being facetious and it doesn't seem like you understand what I mean by universal basic income, it has nothing to do with what people are doing for work. The idea is that there's a basic human dignity and everyone should have the essentials, which to me means housing, clothing, and food. UBI would provide everyone with a monthly stipend that's enough to cover those three things, but no more than that. If you want anything other than the bare essentials, like to live in a non-shitty apartment, have nice clothes, or not live off ramen and hot dogs then you're gonna need to work, but you'll have enough to survive even if you're not working. The idea is not to make everyone comfortable, but to make sure that nobody's suffering for lack of housing or food. Your comment about leeches and system abusers shows a lack of understand because with UBI there's no way to game the system. Everyone gets the monthly stipend (okay, it would likely correlate to people's income and wealth, so not everyone) so there's no question as to whether someone deserves the money (which, again, is not supposed to be a lot) so there's no faking qualification, there's little to no oversight, because again, there's no qualification process, so you save a lot in operation costs, and we don't have people starving or dying from exposure in one of the wealthiest nations in the world. I really don't see a downside. -
Don Williams dies, Troy Gentry killed in helicopter crash
oochymp replied to BwareDWare94's topic in General Entertainment
I've always thought Montgomery Gentry was one of the most underrated duos in music, Don Williams was before my time, but his influence is undeniable. I went to a Cole Swindell concert tonight and he dedicated his performance of 'Remember Boys' to the two of them. You're absolutely right about losing two icons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXg8E0kzF1c -
