BLUE 1,026 Posted April 26, 2011 By Ohm Youngmisuk ESPNNewYork.com EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- While most every team in the NFL allowed players into their practice facilities but didn't let them work out, the New York Giants ran an end-around. Defensive tackle Chris Canty didn't just show up at the facility. He worked out in the weight room and spoke to head coach Tom Coughlin and other staff members. Canty praised the Giants organization and was excited to be back in the building. "Got a chance to meet with the coaches. It was great," he said. "It's a good week for our game. Talked to Coach Coughlin, the position coaches, everybody, just saying hello. Just wanted to have an opportunity to get back to work." "Got a chance to get a good workout in," he added. "I am going to come back as long as the door is open. There was no tension here. Coaches are excited to have guys back in the building." U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson on Monday granted the players' request for an injunction to lift the lockout, ending the NFL's work stoppage in its 45th day. The league subsequently filed an appeal, and the NFL issued a statement Tuesday indicating players would not be allowed to work out. "We are going to proceed in an orderly way that is fair to the teams and players and complies with court orders," the statement read. "Players are being treated with courtesy and respect at club facilities. We do not believe it is appropriate for football activities to take place until there are further rulings from the court. Under the last set of proposals made to the NFLPA, teams wouldn't even be into offseason programs yet. We need a few days to sort this out, as NFLPA attorney Jim Quinn indicated last night." Running back Brandon Jacobs and wide receiver Mario Manningham also stopped by the Giants facility and spoke with staff members and coaching staff. BwareDWare94 723 Posted April 26, 2011 Forget other teams, other plays should follow suit. This is why I loved Canty so much as a Cowboy. Wish we'd have said "fuck it" with Marcus Spears 3 years ago and gave this guy his money.
