Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted August 14, 2012 Ya, the only other healthy RB we have is Marc Tyler. Alex Green, too, but he is on a rep count coming off reconstructive knee surgery. And then we also have Nic Cooper, but he's more used as a FB type.

Smell My Face 13 Posted August 15, 2012 Cedric Benson - RB - Packers Aug 15 - 9:31 AM Cedric Benson's one-year contract with the Packers contains no bonus money and a veteran's minimum base salary of $825,000. If Benson, who turns 30 in December, ends up on injured reserve, his base salary will be reduced to $393,000. In other words, the contract is as team-friendly as it gets. It makes us question Benson's assertion that the Raiders and Lions were interested. He clearly had no leverage during talks with the Packers. Bangy 19 Posted August 19, 2012 Per Rotoworld The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel considers Cedric Benson the Packers' "probable" starter for Week 1 against the 49ers.James Starks (turf toe) is questionable for the opener, and Alex Green isn't ready to handle a full workload. The Packers like what they saw out of Benson at his first practice Sunday. He's worth a look as a low-end RB3 or RB4 in fantasy leagues, although we wouldn't get our hopes up for consistent production.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted August 19, 2012 Ya... Mike said that Benson would get every opportunity to carry the bulk and be "the guy". Let's hope he can capitalize.
Bangy 19 Posted August 19, 2012 Ya... Mike said that Benson would get every opportunity to carry the bulk and be "the guy". Let's hope he can capitalize. Hopefully so he is going to be a big guy for us this season and I generally think him taking the bulk will actually help Alex Green more than Starks. I really want to see what Green was to offer as he looked good in limited plays so far getting good consistent yards.
PackIsBack 124 Posted August 20, 2012 It's Benson's job to lose at this point. None of our other running backs are capable of handling the job right now, so as long as he can display a competent understanding of the playbook then I fully expect to see him as our starter.
