AllYouNeedIsLovie 377 Posted January 1, 2013 Agreed. Think I'd have to give CPOTY to Peyton and MVP to AP now that the Vikings made the playoffs. He was pretty much their entire offense all season and there's no way the Vikings make the playoffs with any other RB in the NFL.
blotsfan 2,112 Posted January 1, 2013 I'd give both to Peterson.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted January 1, 2013 Yup. I give both Peterson. I would say give Peyton offensive player of the year just as a consolation prize... But uh... I think Peterson deserves that one too.
Glanvilles Grits 142 Posted January 2, 2013 Well, I've officially made my own personal decision on this award. CPOY has to go to Peterson for me. The guy completely destroyed his leg. There is no reason he should have come back from that to be this dominant, hell, most guys don't come back from that at all! That would have ended most guys' careers. Not only does he come out and keep his job on top of the depth chart, but he is dominant. That's not all, the guy wasn't just dominant, he almost broke the damn rushing record! That DOESN'T happen. Peyton Manning has done incredible after a year off with a neck procedure done that could have ended his career. At this point however, let's be real. Peyton Manning took a team with a great defense, that TIM TEBOW led into the playoffs - and he helped them reach their full potential with his experience and knowledge. I'm not sure if the worry was so much that he wouldn't be able to play as it was, can he take a hit from an NFL defensive player and get back up? Both of these guys did amazing this year. But Adrian Peterson surpassed amazing. He was phenomenal. Ridiculous even. You just don't do what he came back and did. Hell, you don't even do what he did when you aren't coming back from an injury. Peterson should probably be MVP as well. I mean, Christian Ponder? Come on. Peterson has carried the Vikings on his back since week 4 or 5. No argument about that. Dutch 874 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000134212/article/poll-adrian-peterson-leads-peyton-manning-for-mvp Poll: Adrian Peterson leads Peyton Manning for MVP The 2012 NFL MVP award won't be announced until Saturday night's Honors Awards ceremony, but the "exit polling" compiled by the MVP Voting blog suggests Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has a commanding lead over Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Based on public statements by The Associated Press voters via Twitter and television coverage, the blog has counted 17 votes for Peterson versus only six for Manning. Unlock HQ Video While the results are obviously incomplete, the results are convincing enough to predict that Peterson will take home his first MVP award while Manning falls short of his fifth award. Peterson needs just nine of the final 27 votes to clinch. After shredding his knee in December 2011, Peterson fell just 9 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. He would have broken the record had he not rested his groin and abdomen during garbage time of the Week 16 victory over the Houston Texans. Peterson was not only the first rushing leader to average at least 6 yards per carry since Barry Sanders in 1997, he also accrued 336 more yards after contact than the next-closest back, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin. Esteemed NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell has called Peterson's 2012 performance the greatest individual offensive season in NFL history. "I've been doing this a long time," Cosell added. "I'm usually not wowed when I watch stuff. I'm wowed when I watch (Peterson)." Follow Chris Wesseling on Twitter @ChrisWesseling. A.P for MVP!!
