Vin+ 3,121 Posted October 13, 2013 http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/chargers/2013/10/13/espn-san-diego-chargers-monday-night-football-blackout/2974945/ SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Chargers have been spared the embarrassment of a local TV blackout of Monday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts after ESPN and some local sponsors guaranteed the purchase of approximately 8,500 tickets. ESPN says it will give a portion of the tickets to military and charitable organizations. The Chargers had received a 24-hour extension from the NFL before announcing Saturday that a sellout was guaranteed. Among the companies helping buy tickets were two restaurants in which Chargers President Dean Spanos owns stock. A similar arrangement was necessary last year to avoid a blackout of a game against Kansas City shown on the NFL Network. The Chargers had four blackouts last year, when they finished 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the third straight season. Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. How very generous. KempBolt 498 Posted October 13, 2013 It's really hard to sustain a fan base in a military town.
seanbrock 1,684 Posted October 13, 2013 If LA gets a team the Chargers should definitely be one of the first teams on the list to move imo.
Guest Phailadelphia Posted October 13, 2013 A tweet I posted on Sep 9th is looking kind of prescient right now: RT @tlg35 How nice of all those people to show up at Qualcomm Stadium & pretend to be Chargers fans. #MNF
BJORN 679 Posted October 13, 2013 If LA gets a team the Chargers should definitely be one of the first teams on the list to move imo. Which makes no sense at all given LA's history of supporting their teams.
KempBolt 498 Posted October 13, 2013 I swear there are thousands of people in southern California with two different jerseys in their closets. One of LaDainian Tomlinson, and one of Bo Jackson. They just switch them out depending on who is better at any given time.
