Bucman 891 Posted November 20, 2013 No way does Cutler deserve 100 million. Bears should let him walk and find a QB in the draft. Resign McCown for cheap who has proven to be at least serviceable so far.
Attyla the Hawk 197 Posted November 20, 2013 It kind of boggles my mind how some fans can kick a franchise QB to the curb so willingly. Seattle did just that in the early 90s, because "Dave Krieg can only take us so far". We plummeted into a decade of god awful football on that premise alone. Suffering 3 first round QB busts and an aborted franchise move in the process. Chicago has shared the worst QB in their division for 20 years running, with Detroit doing their best to keep pace. The Bears' track record for drafting and developing QBs is one of the worst in the league. Why would they want to descend to that particular ring of purgatory willingly is beyond me. Sign him. Structure your dead money up front. Keep him in a way that you can get out of the back end of the deal. Start trying to get a replacement now. Given the track record, Chicago is going to have to spend three or four first round picks before they get one that sticks. You never let a franchise QB get away. Denver was stupid lucky to have won the Peyton sweepstakes. Their season would be over if they were in year two of the Brock Osweiler experiment. You can't let franchise QBs walk unless you have another one in house. McCown is not a franchise QB.
Turry 755 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Nor is Cutler. But the reason why we are winning with McCown is because the three headed monster on offense and the fact that Trestman is a qb's best friend. Coincidence Cutler has his best year is the same year Trestman is our head coach? Edited November 20, 2013 by monstersofthemidway

McCown is not a franchise QB. if you wanna know why some of us are so willing to let a "franchise" QB go, look no further than the ravens. They overpaid a bad QB just to keep the boat afloat. How's that working out? If you're happy with a guy who has a big arm, a weak spine, and rocks in his head, you can probably find one in most drafts. The Cutlers and Flaccos of the world don't deserve 100 million dollar contacts. It's insulting to actual talented QB'S, and it inflated the market so that shlubs like this can get that kind of money, handcuffing their teams from loading up with the talent they need to bail out their weakass QB.
