Some good matchups here. Nas and Jay Z were easy picks but other than that, each matchup was tough.

 

Went with Lupe, Diddy, Kanye, 50 cent, and Twista. I haven't heard of BlackThought or Devin the Dude so wasn't sure of that matchup, found Devin's songs better.

I'm gonna sleep on this one. Haha. Matchups like Diddy Vs. Redman are hard to vote for because on one hand, I think Redman is more talented as far as rapping is concerned. but Diddy has had so much success, it's hard to vote against him.

 

West vs. Electronica is in the same boat, I LOVE Kanye West, he's one of the greatest producers of all time, and his overall one of the greatest rappers of all time when you consider all things. But Electronica is a better MC. His verse on Control, despite all the attention Lamaar got was great.

 

I'll vote sometime tomorrow. Haha.

On top of being terrible at making music, Puffy is also quite possibly Satan himself. Think about all the artists he's signed and how many of them turned to extreme devotion to religion within a few years (Mase, Loon, Shyne) or ended up dead (Biggie) or voluntarily going to prison (G-Dep) or joining a cult (Craig Mack) and he literately forced Shyne to go to prison for him too. The guy has to be Satan, I'm convinced.

He's so fucking terrible. My Lord. You pretty much nailed it, so I'm not going to be too long-winded on it. I guess some people maybe don't know that much Redman? That's really the only explanation for the votes the other way.

 

As for my thought process on some of these:

 

Nas, all day. Dude has always had skill. He's also good at selling records, so he's earned his spot in the hierarchy.

 

Lupe and Busta was a tough call, but in the end, Bussa Bus has managed to switch styles, content, you name it. WOO HAAAAAA. Bad MF.

 

As for Diddy vs. Redman:

 

Jay-Z comes up with a clever, catchy song every so often, but I've never been overly impressed with him as a rapper. He sure does sell though. All hail the Pharaoh.

 

Blackthought is a hell of a rapper. He'll probably never be any higher than underground due to his lyrical content, but dude is legit. *winner*

 

I took Kanye because he has shown much talent, but I was very close to going the other way on this one.

The last one was very hard for me. I went with Twista even though at this point I'm more of a Pusha-T fan. Still, There's no denying Twista goes (went) hard. He was somewhat of a pioneer, and while I enjoy T's songs, he's just another dude rapping about selling crack.

Oh dont get me wrong the speed and delivery that Twister had is ridiculous, however, Pusha has contributed more to the scence with big hit records and has produced a name for himself whist clipse was going strong and now on his own. Ive personally always preferred Pusha over Malice anyway, just feel out of the two he has greater presence as their delivery us pretty much the same.

 

Twista came in dropped about 3/4 good records and then dissappeared when he was on the level to be a mainstay.
