Thanatos 2,847 Posted March 8, 2015 see, but that doesn't make sense to me, you're telling me the Packers looked at his other offers and said "well, we're not going to match those offers, which is what the market has now said you're worth, but we'll throw a little more in" I just don't see that happening in a negotiation, now to be fair I certainly don't know what went on in the negotiation, but typically once other offers are on the table you either match those offers or stick to your most recent offer, now maybe Cobb specifically asked for this amount under his other offers, again, I don't know what went on, but it just feels weird I think the dif is the one year less. The Pack offered 9mil/yr for five years and instead upped it to 10mil/yr for 4 years. They overall spend less money, Randall gets more money for the first four years and gets a chance to prove he is worth 12mil/yr for his next contract. Its a beautiful coup by the Packers. I hadn't seen a length attached to the $9M/year offer, but that gives some backing to the theory that he just wasn't done negotiating with the Packers when other teams started sending him offers

In an era where players chase the money (who can blame them, really?), it's a breath of fresh air to see a guy like this.
