butta54 371 Posted April 27, 2016 So as you know in a few short days the NFL Draft will go live from Chicago. As a big draft fan this is a dream come true (for a second time) to have the draft in my city....however this year I was looking to get more bang for my time sorta speak, especially since it seems this will be our last draft for awhile. Anyway as it stands I have two options to partake in this coming Thursday. First, I choose to volunteer again this year after having a great time last year. Luckily I recently ran into an opportunity to work inside the Auditorium (where the draft is) on Thursday night. Second, I received a ticket for Thursday night, but it was a second chance type deal and come to find out it's through an audience fulfillment company that basically makes me a seat-filler waiting on hand for a seat. As fellow NFL fans, and some draft enthusiast....I look to the knowledge of TGP on which opportunity you think I should go with. I will list a PRO & CON list below. Volunteer -Have to rush from work to downtown with an hour -Have to wear a uniform -Possibly spending majority of time away from stage -Dealing with frustrated fans -Over 7 hour shift (standing) -Free Food -Guaranteed time working near the stage -Stronger Possibility of Player/Media Interaction -Receive My Free Stuff On Day 1 -Able To Stay & Watch Rest Of Draft After Shift (Far Away) Seat-Filler -No Free Food -Standing In Waiting Area Until Seats Open Up -First Come/First Serve -Possibility Of Not Getting A Seat The Entire First Day -Zero Possibility of Player/Media Interaction -Have To Wait Another Day To Get My Free Stuff -Have To Volunteer Both Friday & Saturday -No Uniform (Bears Gear!) -No Rush From Work (Hours In Between) -Enough Time To Park My Car @ Home & Take The Train -Guaranteed Full Time In The Theater (Waiting Area Is A Viewing Area) -Get To Be A Fan -See All The Prospects Walk The Stage Live -Once I Have A Seat I'm Good For The Rest Of The Night
Vin+ 3,121 Posted April 27, 2016 You were a volunteer last year, so why not be a seat-filler this year? Seems like it'd be more enjoyable from a fan perspective.
Cherry 1,302 Posted April 27, 2016 Really just depends. How committed are you to watching the picks as they go by? I'd say go as a fan unless you get serious amounts of free food.

You did one the one year, might as well do the other this year while it's still in your city

Bangy 19 Posted April 27, 2016 Got to go with the seat filling. As others have said you have had the experience of volunteering. We all know ow much of a draft boff you are so why not take the chance to actually experience the draft in a seat and when you'll be in your element
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted April 27, 2016 I don't know how the draft works, but it's interesting that their seat filling is permanent. Usually, seat-filling is only temporary, ha. And if you don't get there early enough, the holding area is away from the stage right? Do you still get to watch the event (on monitors or whatever) if so? Regardless, choose whichever experience allows you to be more immersed and to enjoy it.
butta54 371 Posted April 27, 2016 The holding area is a viewing area so we will still be looking at the actual draft and everything. It will just be in the back or on the side.
