Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted January 23, 2017 "We need to reload. I don't think we need to rebuild; we need to reload. We got a lot of players who are young. ... We just need to reload a little bit this offseason," Rodgers said. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000777982/article/aaron-rodgers-packers-need-to-reload-a-little-bit I could be wrong, but knowing Aaron, I think this is a subtle shot at Ted Thompson. Make your own conclusions, though. For what it is worth, he is totally right. Stop wasting Aaron's career Ted, you son of a bitch.
FartWaffles 1,857 Posted January 23, 2017 Fix dat porous defense and get an actual RB. Until then, there's only so many holes Rodgers can plug by himself. (Which we saw that even a QB of his caliber cannot mask that many deficiencies)
Packers Dynasty 2010 116 Posted January 23, 2017 Ya, Rodgers taking another subtle shot at the FO. And he's right, we do just need a bit more to get to the Super Bowl and he shouldn't be forced to carry this team as much as he is. With Shields likely done, least for us, and Peppers' contract over, a lot of money is freed up. Matthews is the 2nd highest paid player but sure doesn't play like it, he needs to rework or something. We need to re-sign Perry, Cook and Hyde, Lang is a tough decision with his age and just suffering that injury but I would like him back if not too expensive. If not Lang, Tretter needs to be re-signed and draft a G. I can't see teams offering Lacy too much money so I would be okay with a prove it kind of deal for him. Looking at FA CBs, though I highly doubt TT does sign 1, the only ones I would be interested in would be Bouye or Trumaine Johnson. Have a feeling that Bouye is going to be expensive though. seanbrock 1,684 Posted January 25, 2017 I forget which commentator said it but the Packers have to look at what they're doing in the off season or practice or whatever because every year they get hit with a ton of injuries. At this point you have to think it's not just bad luck. I mean players have to be their own advocates, I get that, but something needs to be looked at and ultimately to me it falls on McCarthy. Having said that, the Packers probably should move on from Lacy, get a couple RB's and stock that defense up. Atlanta was just obviously the better team. Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted January 25, 2017 If Lacy comes at a cheap deal because of injuries, conditioning, or whatever else I wouldn't mind signing him. But the potential is so obvious... watching him run and the power he exhibits, how he just punishes defenders, he will probably make a good chunk of money on just that potential. If so, definitely move on. As long as he doesn't go to a rival or the Pats I hope he can turn it around. He's a great guy, does a ton in the community. Wish him the best. seanbrock 1,684 Posted January 25, 2017 If you do re-sign Lacy though you need to invest a decent pick in the position as an insurance policy. Honestly when you keep investing in injury prone players you just end up finding yourself in the same position year after year. Lacy is talented but at what point does it just become not worth it. Even on a cheap deal the team becomes dependent on the guy to a certain degree and when he goes down it has a big effect on the team. Lacy probably should be a 10-15 touch power back at this stage of his career. Maybe that would make it so he can last a whole season.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted January 25, 2017 Oh yeah, even if we bring him back, it will probably be a short term deal. I also wouldn't mind bringing Christine Michael back.. James Starks should be gone, but he makes almost $3M next year. And hopefully John Crockett is healthy, he has a lot of potential. I definitely want to look at the draft though
