Vin+ 3,121 Posted March 24, 2011 The "consensus" among NFL people present at the Nevada Pro Day was that Colin Kaepernick will be a second-round pick in April. NFL.com's Gil Brant reports that Kaepernick was "very impressive" in front of officials from 26 teams, and confirms Kaepernick has established himself as a "high-round draft prospect." Russ Lande of the Sporting News has Kaepernick rated as the No. 2 quarterback in the draft, behind only Blaine Gabbert. We have him teetering between the Seahawks at No. 25 and Bills at No. 34. Vin+ 3,121 Posted April 16, 2011 Pro Football Talk has spoken with a source that says a head coach for an AFC West team has Colin Kaepernick rated as the No. 1 quarterback on his draft board. This report comes on the heels of the news that Kaepernick has been invited to attend the draft in New York City. Together, they paint a compelling picture that the Nevada signal caller will not last beyond round one. Recent reports have linked Kaepernick to the Raiders, but Oakland does not currently own a first-round pick. Vin+ 3,121 Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) Trainer Chip Smith, who has worked with top-shelf players for 20 years, believes Nevada's Colin Kaepernick is a better athlete than Cam Newton. Smith has spent quite a bit of time with both players. "Colin is actually a little bit better athletically," said Smith. "He's a little faster -- I've clocked him as low as a 4.4 -- and there isn't a quarterback in this draft who throws the ball with the velocity that Colin does. Colin is a better athlete, and he understands the game better ... Of the 56 quarterbacks I've worked with, Colin is the most prepared for the NFL." Related: Cam Newton Source: NFL.com According to Bill Huber of Packer Report, Colin Kaepernick's recent draft invite was sent by the league after "several teams" told the NFL he is the top rated quarterback on their boards. Huber is insistent about this information, citing "someone who knows" and presumably handles invites to Radio City Music Hall. Profootballtalk.com has confirmed that at least one AFC West team (believed to be the Raiders, Chiefs, OR Broncos) definitely has Kaepernick rated as the draft's top quarterback. With ideal size, arm strength, athleticism, and intangibles, it probably shouldn't surprise anyone if Kaepernick is a first-round pick. Vin+ 3,121 Posted April 20, 2011 Aww yeah CBS Sports draft analyst Rob Rang reports that the Titans and Jaguars are "exceptionally" high on Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick. This goes along with several previous reports, particularly about the Titans. Rang believes that either of the AFC South clubs could use a first- or second-round pick on Kaepernick. Rang notes that numerous other teams have Kaepernick rated as only a second- to third-rounder, behind many of the signal callers from schools with bigger names. Jacksonville might be a best-case scenario for Kaepernick, where he could study under David Garrard. Source: CBS Sports

seanbrock 1,684 Posted January 7, 2013 Gabbert over Kaepernick. I'm a firm believer that a lot of a QB's success is determined by where they land. San Fran, with their o line, running game and defense is just about as good as it gets. Jacksonville on the other hand...not so much. Not saying Gabbert would be good in San Fran, but Kaep would look like shit in Jacksonville. No offense.
