Official 2012 Signed Draft Picks Thread

Browns signed TR to a 4-year, $20.4 million contract, fully guaranteed.

Source

Trent Richardson and the Cleveland Browns have agreed to a four-year, $20.4 million contract (fully guaranteed) with a $13.6 million signing bonus, NFL.com and NFL Network's Albert Breer and Ian Rapoport reported Monday, each citing a source with knowledge of the situation.

Richardson, a running back from Alabama, is expected to make an immediate impact in the Browns' backfield as a rookie.

Richardson joins Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III as top-three picks from the 2012 NFL Draft who have agreed to contracts within the last few days.

The Browns have yet to strike a deal with their other first-round draft pick, quarterback Brandon Weeden, who was taken No. 22 overall.

Colts signed rookie TE Coby Fleener, the No. 34 overall pick, to a four-year contract.

The Colts have now signed their entire draft class. At least based on Combine measurables, Fleener's athleticism rivals that of Jimmy Graham, Rob Gronkowski, and Aaron Hernandez. We want to see it in preseason games before recommending him as a sleeper TE1. We like Fleener, for now, as a TE2.

Dolphins signed third-round TE Michael Egnew to a four-year contract.

Eight rookie picks remain unsigned around the NFL. Egnew, the 78th selection out of Missouri, will likely need to show he can block to get on the football field as a rookie. Past Mizzou tight ends such as Martin Rucker and Chase Coffman have struggled with that coming out of Gary Pinkel's spread offense.

Colts signed third-round TE Dwayne Allen to a four-year contract.

The 64th overall pick in the draft, Allen was the first pick of the third round and will be counted on for a significant role off the bat. While we prefer Coby Fleener's long-term fantasy ceiling, Allen could be an every-down tight end as a rookie, blocking on the line and working the underneath pass routes.

Bengals signed third-round DT Brandon Thompson to a four-year contract.

The Bengals used two early picks on defensive tackles this year, securing Devon Still in the second round and Thompson in the third. They envision 6'2/315-pound Thompson as a squatty nose tackle type, backing up Domata Peko. Thompson figures to play sparingly as a rookie, rotating in when Peko needs a breather.

Vikings agreed to terms with third-round CB Josh Robinson on a four-year contract.

While it's a bit of a red flag in terms of college game tape that Robinson was still available after two rounds of the draft, he displayed blazing speed (4.33) and all-around athleticism in his Combine workout. A bit of a project, Robinson seems unlikely to threaten for significant playing time as a rookie.

Dolphins signed third-round DE Olivier Vernon to a four-year contract.

Though Vernon didn't play much as a junior at Miami last year due to participation in the Hurricanes' scandal, he possesses exciting off-the-ball explosion and drew positive reviews throughout spring practices. The Dolphins desperately need another pass rusher to book end RE Cameron Wake. Vernon could be that guy on passing downs, replacing LE Jared Odrick in the nickel.

Jaguars signed No. 70 overall pick P Bryan Anger to a four-year contract.

The Jags shocked everyone by taking Anger in the third round of April's draft. It's the highest a punter has been selected since 1995. The three-time All-Pac 10 selection has no competition for the gig in training camp. First-rounder Justin Blackmon is now the Jaguars' only unsigned pick.

Rams agreed to terms with No. 65 overall pick DB Trumaine Johnson on a four-year contract.

The Rams now have all 10 of their draft picks under contract. Johnson was a four-year starter at cornerback for small-school Montana, but there's heavy speculation he'll be moved to safety. If that's the case, he'll have an outside shot at emerging as a Week 1 starter opposite FS Quintin Mikell.

Rams agreed to terms with No. 39 overall pick CB Janoris Jenkins on a four-year, $5 million contract.

The deal includes $3.1 million guaranteed. Per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, that's the biggest increase in percentage of guaranteed money for any second-rounder over their 2011 equivalent. It's unclear what, if any, protective language is included in the deal. One of the draft's most gifted but troubled talents, Jenkins could immediately emerge as a starter opposite RCB Cortland Finnegan if he's truly moved beyond his myriad off-the-field issues. A focused and committed Jenkins could be a long-term difference maker on St. Louis' defense.

Broncos agreed to terms with No. 57 overall pick QB Brock Osweiler on a four-year contract.

A one-year starter at Arizona State, Osweiler failed to break the top-six in the Pac-12 in completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdowns and passer rating as a junior. Osweiler will ideally spend the next two years refining his mechanics behind Peyton Manning. We don't love his long-term prospects.

Broncos agreed to terms with No. 67 overall pick RB Ronnie Hillman on a four-year contract.

The undersized San Diego State star ran between the tackles in college, but was also susceptible to negative plays while relying too heavily on the jump-cut. We question whether he will succeed inside against NFL defenders. Although Hillman was buried on the depth chart in June minicamp, he did impress as a pass-catcher and change-of-pace option early in OTAs. Barring a Willis McGahee injury, the 20-year-old will struggle to make a fantasy impact as a rookie.

Browns signed No. 22 overall pick Brandon Weeden to a four-year, $8.1 million contract.

Just in the nick of time. Browns rookie report to camp today, with practicing beginning on Wednesday. Although the team's brass has made a half-hearted attempt to insist the quarterback job is up for competition, Weeden is fully expected to be named the starter early in training camp. GM Mike Holmgren believes the 28-year-old is "as prepared to come in and start as a rookie as any quarterback I've seen in a long time."

Texans agreed to terms with third-round OG Brandon Brooks on a four-year, $2.8 million contract.

Houston's 2012 draft class is now signed. Brooks was expected to challenge hard for the Texans' starting right guard job, before reporting to minicamp overweight and out of shape. His weight will always be a concern at 340-plus pounds, particularly in the zone-blocking scheme. Antoine Caldwell will enter camp as the heavy favorite for right guard. Brooks should still get a look.

Texans agreed to terms with No. 68 overall pick WR DeVier Posey on a four-year contact.

Posey drew mixed reviews during the Texans' offseason program, but is still expected to have a role in the offense as a rookie. He's behind fellow rookies Lestar Jean and Keshawn Martin in the competition for No. 3 receiver duties, however. Posey was suspended for all but three games of his senior season at Ohio State. He's off-the-radar in redraft leagues.

Per Rotoworld.com:

Vikings agreed to terms with No. 4 overall pick LT Matt Kalil on a four-year, $19.77 million contract.

The consensus top tackle prospect in the draft, Kalil projects to serve as the Vikings' franchise left tackle for a decade. He didn't allow a single sack while manning that spot for USC last season. At 6'7/295, the younger brother of Panthers center Ryan Kalil figures to get even better in the run game once he adds some size. Only four first-round picks now remain unsigned. Jul 26 - 12:48 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Chiefs signed No. 11 overall pick NT Dontari Poe to a four-year contract.

The sides were reportedly "not close" Wednesday, but made up ground quickly with training camp beginning on Thursday. After taking first-team reps in offseason practices, the freakishly athletic Poe is expected to open the season as the Chiefs' starting nose tackle. Jul 26 - 1:14 PM

That leaves Justin Blackmon, Ryan Tannehill, Kendall Wright, Tony Bergstrom and Juron Criner

Kendall Wright needs to just accept that he's not going to get a fully guaranteed contract, thanks Bucs for giving last year's #20 pick (Adrian Clayborn) fully guaranteed contract, it's the only one that's been given to a player taken after 16 in the first round under the new CBA to get a fully guaranteed contract, but because he happened to be the same pick as Kendall Wright he thinks he has precedent, but Clayborn was the first guy that signed under the new CBA last year so nobody really knew what was going to happen with those picks, but even Weeden, who's expected to start at QB, didn't get a fully guaranteed contract, Wright and his agent need to get their collective head out of their collective ass and get Kendall Wright into camp

Per Rotoworld.com:

Raiders agreed to terms with third-round OG Tony Bergstrom on a four-year contract.

The 95th overall pick, Bergstrom auditioned at left guard during rookie camp and could push for the starting job, competing with over-the-hill Cooper Carlisle. Bergstrom was mostly a tackle in college, so he's learning a new position. He's still considered a strong fit for the Raiders' zone-blocking scheme. Jul 27 - 5:34 PM

Per Rotoworld.com:

Dolphins agreed to terms with No. 8 overall pick Ryan Tannehill on a four-year contract.

Financial terms are not yet available. Tannehill was reportedly seeking a fully guaranteed deal, but ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Dolphins were able to include offset language. Tannehill will immediately report to training camp and compete with Matt Moore and David Garrard for the starting quarterback job. Even if Tannehill loses out, we'd expect him to start games at some point during the season. Jul 28 - 7:47 PM

Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter

Ryans Tannehill's contract is reportedly worth $12.69 million, with a $7.65 million signing bonus.

The deal includes an average annual value of $3.17 million and has an option for a fifth-year. The Dolphins presumably gave Tannehill an additional $110,000 over his slotted value in exchange for the inclusion of offset language. There are now only two remaining unsigned first-round draft picks (Justin Blackmon, Kendall Wright). Jul 28 - 8:57 PM

Raiders signed fifth-round WR Juron Criner to a four-year contract.

The Raiders don't begin training camp practices until Monday, so Criner missed no valuable time despite what might be perceived as a "late" signing. After blowing up OTAs and minicamps with circus catches, Criner will attempt to carry it over to live-contact work. Criner is a possession receiver with reliable mitts. We'd keep an eye on him in the preseason games.

Blackmon is probably taking so long because the Jags don't want to give him as much guaranteed as he wants after that DUI.

Per Rotoworld.com:

Titans signed No. 20 overall pick WR Kendall Wright to a four-year contract.

Wright ended up missing just four days of camp while the sides worked out offset language particulars. Although Wright's future is in the slot, OC Chris Palmer proved prescient in having him learn Kenny Britt's position during OTAs. A quick study, Wright is expected to see a major role early in the season while Britt, also facing a potential multi-game suspension, recovers from three knee surgeries. Rotoworld ranks Wright as a top-50 fantasy receiver. Jul 31 - 1:06 PM

about damn time, and as expected, Wright did not get a fully guaranteed contract

Per Rotoworld.com:

Jaguars agreed to terms with No. 5 overall pick WR Justin Blackmon on a four-year contract.

He's expected to report on Tuesday. It's unclear what, if any, protective language is included in the deal following Blackmon's June DUI arrest. The Jaguars' insistence on protecting themselves against further off-the-field issues from Blackmon was the primary reason he was the lone remaining rookie holdout. He won't be ready for Friday's preseason opener, but with Laurent Robinson drawing mixed reviews in his first Jags camp, Blackmon could assert himself as Jax's No. 1 receiver relatively quickly. Aug 6 - 2:56 PM

Source: Vito Stellino on Twitter

Justin Blackmon's four-year, $18.5 million rookie contract protected the Jaguars by deferring 40 percent of his signing bonus.

The $18.5M is guaranteed at signing, but only $7.11M of Blackmon's signing bonus is paid immediately, and future guarantees "go away" if Blackmon gets suspended. The rest can go to Blackmon via annual roster bonuses, and the Jaguars can take themselves off the hook for those if they release him at any point. It's still a good deal for Blackmon. The Jaguars just have some protection. Aug 6 - 5:33 PM
