housemd 338 Posted April 5, 2013 Free agent K Jason Hanson announced his retirement. Hanson, 42, spent all 21 seasons of his career with the Lions. He had an 82.4 percent success rate over that time, connecting on 55.9 percent of his kicks from 50-plus yards out. Hanson cites a foot injury as the main reason he is finally hanging up the cleats, and the Lions' unwillingness to offer much more than the veteran's minimum to bring him back for a 22nd season likely also contributed to his decision. Detroit is now looking for a new punter and kicker.
RANGA+ 1,210 Posted April 6, 2013 One of the best kickers to play the game. Shame he never got a real shot at the playoffs.
NaTaS+ 958 Posted April 6, 2013 NIce to see a kicker spend his entire time with one team. Damn you Browns/Phil Dawson,
RazorStar 4,025 Posted April 6, 2013 Even Jason Elam left the Broncos for the last few years of his career. Pretty impressive careers by some of these long time kickers.
