Bucman 891 Posted June 26, 2013 PASSAIC CO., New Jersey — Browns rookie Ausar Walcott has been arrested and faces charges including aggravated murder. Passaic County Assistant Prosecutor Salvatore Bellomo said Walcott faces one count each of attempted murder, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of an injured victim. According to jail records, Walcott, 23, was issued $500,000 bond in the case. He turned himself in and was arrested Tuesday. He’ll appear in court Thursday morning. Further details on what led to the charges are not yet available. According to the Cleveland Browns’ website, Walcott was a four-year letterman at the University of Virginia. He’s a native of Hackensack, New Jersey. A statement released on behalf of the Cleveland Browns Wednesday states: “We are aware of the situation. This is a pending legal matter and we will not comment.” Stick with Fox 8 and Fox8.com for more on this developing story. No clue who the guy is though. Glanvilles Grits 142 Posted June 27, 2013 This entire ordeal has gone unnoticed by everyone because of the Aaron Hernandez homicide investigation. Sad. At least he turned himself in and made it a bit easier for the State Police. Another young player, another dumb ass situation. Perhaps the NFL should start doing background checks and making employment in the league harder to accomplish - like a lot of the jobs in the country are starting to turn. Vin+ 3,121 Posted July 4, 2013 NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says he would have to approve any potential signing of free agent OLB/DE Ausar Walcott. Walcott was charged with attempted murder last week. As is the case with Aaron Hernandez, Goodell says a signing could not take place before he "conducts a hearing and determines any appropriate discipline under the Personal Conduct Policy." Walcott was a fringe UDFA even before his arrest, so it's a moot point. Source: FOXSports.com
