GA_Eagle 595 Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) 1. Pearl Jam2. Nirvana3. Alice In Chains4. Soundgarden 5. Mother Love Bone 6. STP I don;t really have enough knowledge on the rest like mud honey and the screaming trees to say where I would rank them. I like the songs I've heard but never really got into them. SteVo+ 3,702 Posted October 15, 2013 I'm one of those weirdos who insists there were only four grunge bands ever, and the rest were post-grunge. 1) Pearl Jam 2) Alice in Chains 3) Soundgarden 4) Nirvana

GA_Eagle 595 Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) Nirvana is ridiculously overrated. My thinking is the same can be said for any of the bigger grunge bands with the exception of Pearl Jam, who I think is underrated. People became sick of hearing "Better Man" and "Even Flow" on the radio and forgot how really good they are. People became a bit jaded by their radio hits, imo. I don't think you're off as far as Nirvana's impact on music, since I think grunge was coming whether Nirvana came around or not, but I think they were pretty decent at making some catchy little rock songs and I still listen to them more than any other grunge band other than PJ. Also, Temple of the Dog over Nirvana (or any other grunge band, imo) is just off. It's a cool album and the music IS good but it feels like an oddity, a weird collab between Soundgarden and Pearl Jam (which is kinda what it is, despite the time frame). They have never toured as a band and have only played a few sets together live. Just doesn't feel like a real band to me. Cheese Head 11 Posted October 16, 2013 One group that hasn't been mentioned yet is Blind Melon. Shannon Hoon was a legend of his time.
