Greatest Actor Tournament Qualifier #2

So the nominating for our Greatest Actor Tournament is complete. I have tallied the votes, and all together we had 170 participants. Even though I definitely want a large and inclusive tournament, I feel like we do need to slim it down some.

With that said, we are going to have a number of qualifier polls. Any nominee that got at least two votes (90 in total) has been sorted and seeded. They are officially safe and will be moving on to the full tournament to claim the title of TGP's Greatest Actor.

Those nominees that failed to get at least two votes (80 in total) are going to be thrown into the qualifier polls. If they beat an opponent in the qualifier, they will receive another single vote, giving them two and official entry into the tournament. Which means we will begin the full tournament with 130 participants when all is said and done.

Just because these actors only got one vote, doesn't mean they will be easy or boring matchups though. You can make an argument for most, if not all of these actors to carry on. They are going to be paired up simply in twos by earliest mention outside of a few examples as a few got mixed up as I was shuffling around the seeded and non-seeded participants. Kinda sucks, and definitely not the fairest, but if you have a problem... Well, you should have voted for them in the nomination thread and they wouldn't be in the qualifier to begin with.

Jonah Hill -- toughest matchup of this qualifier at the very least, for me. I really like the evolution of Goslings career and while I never liked him early on, he has grown on me quite a bit. Unfortunately for him, Jonah Hill has gone through a similar, if not grander, evolution.... IMO, of course.

Hill and Gyllenhall though... Hill may not be the most serious actor but he deserved to move on. He can be damn good. When you look at movies today, you see Hill. That's telling.

 

Gyllenhall falls under a "Bulk" performance category. He doesn't have a particular amazing moment, but he is all-around a great actor, IMO.
