AL_Royalty 489 Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) DENVER -- Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater will be suspended for the first four games of the regular season for a violation of the NFL's substance-abuse program, multiple team sources confirmed following the team's 18-17 preseason loss to the Houston Texans. Prater, who has been in the league's program since an August 2011 DUI arrest, acknowledged the suspension to the Broncos and confirmed the four games to The Denver Post on Saturday night before he left Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The suspension is alcohol-related, according to the newspaper. A Broncos spokesman said the team would have no comment on the suspension "at this time.'' Prater and Broncos coach John Fox had a brief discussion in the locker room following the game. Prater played in Saturday night's game, making a 32-yard field goal and missing a 49-yard attempt. He has been subject to increased testing in the league's substance-abuse program since he was charged in August 2011 with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash. At the time, Greenwood Village, Colorado, police said Prater's blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.142, or nearly twice Colorado's .08 limit. Team sources said Saturday that the latest test that prompted the suspension was conducted earlier this offseason. Peyton just can't catch a break lolol Edited August 24, 2014 by What Timeouts? Glanvilles Grits 142 Posted August 24, 2014 Prater was a pretty bad alcoholic before his first offense. Hopefully he didn't regress back to his original addiction state. Unlike all the marijuana charges in the NFL, alcohol can be dangerous.

Vin+ 3,121 Posted August 24, 2014 ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Broncos K Matt Prater was facing a year-long suspension before his attorney got it reduced to four games. Prater has been in the league's drug program since 2011. This report suggests he's had multiple strikes. Prater has a booming leg and is the consensus top fantasy kicker. He'll miss the first four games of the season before returning in Week 6. Look for the Broncos to sign a veteran kicker in the coming days. AL_Royalty 489 Posted August 24, 2014 Justin Blackmon been snatched the title, how dare you girlfriend. How you gonna just forget about Kyle Orton? I know he's not starting, but he's definitely a first string party animal.
theMileHighGuy 656 Posted August 26, 2014 Oh Matt, if only you would have blew off steam by beating your wife into unconsciousness in a public place before dragging her limp carcass to the parking lot. Your suspension would've only been half as long! That'll teach you to have a couple beers on vacation you fucking deviant.
Cherry 1,302 Posted August 26, 2014 DUI is still pretty bad. Both definitely deserve 6-8 game suspensions.
theMileHighGuy 656 Posted August 26, 2014 His DUI was in 2011. His crime was failing an alcohol test while in their program. He should certainly be punished, but to give him twice as long of a suspension than someone who beat a female till she couldn't stand is effing ridiculous. I have a feeling this was more than a couple of beers on vacation, which is why I hate that the league can't say anything about what caused the suspension under there substance abuse policy, players can say whatever they want and that's the only story the public gets Edited August 26, 2014 by oochymp

People looked, I read the thing, everyone laughed: thanks for that (see my Sig). I get that he has to get at least a slap on the wrist, but that's probably all he deserves. Criminals - actual criminals - get redemption stories and support for days in pro sports, but let someone's extracurricular habits get made public, and holy shit what's this guys problem. Lol. What a moron. Terrible guy. Take him out back old Yeller style. Even if it's something everyone knows someone doing every day.
