Zack_of_Steel+ 3,014 Posted October 22, 2014 Why cover it up? Seems like the old administration would've wanted that known. For one, in five of the six cases in which troops were wounded by chemical agents, " the munitions appeared to have been designed in the United States, manufactured in Europe and filled in chemical agent production lines built in Iraq by Western companies," the newspaper reported. For another, the weapons were old -- made before 1991 -- and therefore did not back up U.S. intelligence that at the time suggested Iraq had an active weapons of mass destruction program. "In case after case, participants said, analysis of these warheads and shells reaffirmed intelligence failures. First, the American government did not find what it had been looking for at the war's outset, then it failed to prepare its troops and medical corps for the aged weapons it did find," the Times reported. http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/15/us/iraq-chemical-weapons/index.html
seanbrock 1,684 Posted October 22, 2014 Bill Hicks said it best even before the second war with Iraq. How'd we know they had the weapons? We looked at the receipt lol. Hussein was one of many US sponsored dictator's in the Arab world. They might not have known everything he was up to exactly, but they did know exactly the kind of guy he was. Guest Phailadelphia Posted October 22, 2014 Sorta on-topic, sorta off-topic - if yall havent read Naomi Klein's 'The Shock Doctrine' you should check it out. It's sort of a hit piece on Milton Friedman and the CIA & FBI (yes there's a link), but it does a really fantastic job of covering the US's many covert foreign affairs operations starting in the 1950s. It's a really fascinating read even if you don't agree with her argument against Friedman's economic theories.
