Vin+ 3,121 Posted September 14, 2015 The Dallas Morning News reports Dez Bryant is dealing with a broken fifth metatarsal, and will undergo surgery on Tuesday. It's also known as a "Jones fracture." It's the same injury that plagued the NBA's Kevin Durant last season, limiting him to 27 games and leading to three surgeries. That's a worst-case scenario, of course, but reminder that Bryant has a complicated recovery ahead of him. At the very least, he's going to miss a month. Marvin Jones missed all of 2014 with a Jones issue. Source: Dallas Morning News ESPN Dallas considers November 1 against Seattle to be Dez Bryant's "more likely" return date. That would be Week 8. It's based on the timeline being given by the Cowboys with regard to Bryant's fractured fifth metatarsal. Terrance Williams is expected to man Bryant's usual X receiver position, with Devin Street handling more snaps at Z and Cole Beasley staying in the slot. The Cowboys are also very likely to use more two-tight end sets, increasing Gavin Escobar's usage. Source: ESPN Dallas Cowboys DE Randy Gregory has been officially diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, and will be sidelined 4-6 weeks. It's going to leave the Cowboys' pass rush severely undermanned until Greg Hardy returns from suspension in Week 5. Gregory won't be back before Big D's Week 6 bye. seanbrock 1,684 Posted September 14, 2015 Wow, Dallas needs to find a way to come out of this at .500. If not it could be rough.
Maverick 791 Posted September 15, 2015 I love that we're missing them for our most difficult stretch this season.
BwareDWare94 723 Posted September 16, 2015 They'll win this weekend and figure out who they can trust among their depth. DLawrence needs to step up. I'm not worried about the Dez loss so much, Philly's corners can't hang with Terrance Williams and stay glued to Cole Beasley.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted September 20, 2015 (edited) RIP Dez. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Dez Bryant (foot) needed a bone graft in his surgery Monday and is now expected to miss 10-12 weeks. Initially expected to miss 4-6 weeks, we may not see Bryant until December, if he returns to the field at all this season. A bone graft suggests Bryant's foot was weaker in the fifth metatarsal area and needed more support for the healing process. The Cowboys have discussed short-term I.R. as a possibility for Bryant, but coach Jason Garrett wants Bryant to have "every opportunity" to come back as soon as possible. For now, Devin Street is expected to start for Bryant. If you haven't traded Bryant in redraft, you may have missed the boat. Source: NFL.com Dez lives?! ESPN's Ed Werder reports that the bone graft performed during Dez Bryant's foot injury improves his chances of coming back within six weeks. It's telling that the Cowboys haven't placed Bryant on the I.R./Designated to Return List. That would suggest the team believes his return will come within 6-8 weeks. That's more favorable than the grim 10-12 week timetable established by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport earlier Sunday morning. Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley will have expanded roles during Bryant's absence. Source: Ed Werder on Twitter Edited September 20, 2015 by Vin
