Thats exactly what happened it don't matter if Jennings had the ball in the air when they went to the ground both Golden Tate and Jennings had possession, but if the Replacement refs wouldve called Pass Interference on Golden Tate that possession wouldn't have mattered cause it wouldve negated the catch and ended the game Packers wouldve won 12-7 but since there was no flag seahawks won and if there wasnt suppose to be a flag seahawks would win... but there WAS A MISSED FLAG. Thanatos 2,847 Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) Jennings catches the ball first, zero question. There is no simultaneous possession. His feet do not need to be on the ground to have possession of the ball, per NFL rules. If one person gains control first and then the other puts two hands on the ball, the possession goes to the player who first gained control- be that player offense or defense. Walt Anderson, Ed Hochuli, and Bill Leavy, all actual refs, when they were asked the day after the Fail Mary, all said they would have called interception both on the field and after review, regardless of what call was made on the field. Oh and here's Sport Science on it. Not simultaneous possession, Packers were robbed. And it made a large difference, the Pack are the #2 seed if this call is made correctly, instead of having to play in the Wild Card round, they instead get a bye.
