RazorStar 4,025 Posted October 4, 2011 And as a special treat, here are the complete rankings at the Quarter Point. The lower the number beside the name, the better the QB is (theoretically). The Midpoint for 32 QB's is right around 50, so if your QB is lower than that mark, he's below average. 1. Aaron Rodgers (4) Highest Completion Percentage, Highest TD:INT Ratio, and the second highest YPA after 4 weeks. So close to a perfect first for the Godgers. 2. Tom Brady (15) 3. Matt Hasslebeck (17) Say what? 4. Eli Manning (18) 5. Drew Brees (21) 6. Alex Smith (22) Say what again? 7. Matt Schaub (23) 8. Tony Romo (34) 9. Matt Stafford (35) 10. Ryan Fitzpatrick (36) 11t. Philip Rivers (41) 11t. Jason Campbell (41) 13. Mike Vick (43) 14. Kevin Kolb (49) It's nice to see Kevin Kolb holding his own out there. He's not going to be beating up the elite teams, but average play is a good start. 15t. Matt Ryan (52) 15t. Cam Newton (52) 17. Ben Roethlisberger (57) 18t. Joe Flacco (60) 18t. Josh Freeman (60) 18t. Tarvaris Jackson (60) 21. Donovan McNabb (62) 22. Kyle Orton (63) 23t. Chad Henne (64) 23t. Colt McCoy (64) 23t. Sam Bradford (64) Despite being hyped up to holy hell, Bradford's Rams are 0-4 and he's not helping the cause at all. 26. Jay Cutler (65) 27t. Andy Dalton (68) 27t. Matt Cassel (68) 29. Rex Grossman (70) His hot start can't deny him from his rightful place. 30. Mark Sanchez (71) 31. Kerry Collins (75) 32. Blaine Gabbert (88) BUST BUST BUST! Why the heck would you get rid of Garrard anyway?

BLUE 1,026 Posted October 11, 2011 Eli is playing like a top 10 quarterback, IMO....We just need to get healthy and play better on the offensive line, and get Justin Tuck back on the defensive line....Tuck, Osi and JPP have yet to play a single down together.... RazorStar 4,025 Posted October 24, 2011 (edited) There's still 3 Elite QB's, but Drew Brees moves back into that 3rd spot after an impressive drubbing of the Hapless Colts. AAron Rodgers continued his dominance against the one win Vikings, and perhaps most impressively, Tom Brady slaughtered the bye week by plowing Gisele Bundchen. RazorStar 4,025 Posted October 25, 2011 Like most players, it's completion percentage that he's simply average in. Perhaps I should have use the median of last year's completion percentages instead of the mean. Some really high averages are scewing the thing a bit. RazorStar 4,025 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) Elite tier just got more inflated this week, after impressive performances by Eli Manning, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ben Roethlisberger. A lot of new comers (Ponder, Feeley, Tebow) are short in attempts so they still won't be on the list this week, but if all goes according to plan, they'll make the Week 9 pure sorting list. Kerry Collins is finally knocked off due to being at 98 attempts, just short of the 100 necessary. Week 8 Rankings: Elite (3/3 Green) Aaron Rodgers Eli Manning Tom Brady Ben Roethlisberger Ryan Fitzpatrick Very Good (2/3 Green) Matt Schaub Drew Brees Good (1/3 Green) Cam Newton Michael Vick Tony Romo Matt Stafford Alex Smith Donovan McNabb Slightly Flawed (2/3 Green 1/3 Red) Philip Rivers Hit or Miss (1/3 Green 1/3 Red) Chad Henne Kevin Kolb Mark Sanchez Average (All White) Jay Cutler Matt Hasslebeck Jason Campbell Andy Dalton Tarvaris Jackson Matt Cassel Matt Ryan Below Average (1/3 Red) Curtis Painter Joe Flacco Kyle Orton Does One Thing Well (1/3 Green 2/3 Red) Pretty Bad (2/3 Red) Rex Grossman Josh Freeman Sam Bradford Colt McCoy Blaine Gabbert Terrible (3/3 Red) Edited November 1, 2011 by RazorStar

RazorStar 4,025 Posted November 8, 2011 Week 9 QB Rankings. You should know how this works, it's in the page before for week 5. QB's get a cumulative grade combining their ranks in YPA, TD:INT Ratio and Completion percentage. A (3) is the highest score possible, and with 34 QB's, a 102 would be the worst possible score. Somewhere between 50-55 would be average. 1. Aaron Rodgers (3) [0] No change in ranking for the best player in the league. Rodgers is well on his way towards the best QB season we've ever seen. 2. Tom Brady (13) [0] Even with a less than stellar game against the Giants last week, Brady is still the second best QB, getting the ball in the right places for his receivers to get their YAC. He could do with a few less interceptions though, he's on pace for 20 this year. 3. Eli Manning (15) [+1] Didn't expect to see the younger manning brother so close to the top this year. Not only is he playing well, he's getting his team the clutch wins they need. 4. Drew Brees (19) [+1] Drew Brees is just gonna keep throwing until his arm falls off. 674 times isn't enough, is it? 5. Ben Roethlisberger (22) [+12] Big raiser of the quarter goes to Big Ben. He's really put in his best games as of late, and a slow start is not stopping him from being where he belongs. His YPA is matching his usual totals, but other players have just made ridiculous totals in that regard. 6. Alex Smith (23) [0] Well Alex Smith hasn't fallen off this year. He's just been playing deadly efficient football, and the 49ers only have one loss to show for it. Having a great defense and awesome running game is great, but not throwing interceptions is the biggest thing that the 49ers are doing. 7. Tony Romo (30) [+1] Funny thing about Romo is he's basically 10th in every category, which puts him really close to being elite in every category, but not quite there in anything but YPA, which again is ridiculous this year. 8. Matt Stafford (31) [+1] Stafford is another guy who just isn't turning the ball over. The Lions have a lot of weapons for him to pick apart defenses with, but he's making sure that the Lions aren't being picked apart by his mistakes. 9. Ryan Fitzpatrick (32) [+1] I still didn't think I'd be seeing him here. He's just so accurate with his passes that he can make retreads and low draft picks look like the greatest show on turf. 10. Matt Schaub (34) [-3] What a surprise, Schaub loses his best receiver and he drops in the rankings. He's still got an amazing YPA, and his TD:INT ratio is pretty strong as well, but the thing that really took a big hit is completion percentage, he's hovering right around the league average. 11. Matt Hasslebeck (35) [-8] So Hasslebeck has started to fall back to the middle of the pack or so, his lack of interceptions is the only thing keeping him from dead on average. 12. Philip Rivers (43) [-1] If you couldn't gather, Rivers has been extremely hit or miss this year. 6th in Completion percentage, 6th in Yards per Attempt, but he's 31st out of 34 in interceptions, and that's just terrible. That's the same level as a Redskins QB. Either one! 13t. Cam Newton (44) [+2] 13t. Mike Vick (44) [0] Newton and Vick are very similar so I'll put their writeup together. Despite being very entertaining on the field, both QB's teams are a combined 5-11, good for a top 10 draft pick. They're both below the curve on TD:INT ratio, but make up for it with strong Yards per attempts, and in Vick's case completion percentage. Just limit the turnovers and the teams should win games. 15t. Jay Cutler (52) [+11] Jay Cutler has been a pretty big riser as well, coming back from the depths of being terrible, into an average QB. The big difference? Jay Cutler has taken 3 sacks in the past 3 games, he took 18 in the first 5. He's playing with a lot more poise now that the pressure is off. 15t. Matt Ryan (52) [0] Matt Ryan is tied with another big armed gunslinger. He'd be a lot lower if not for Julio Jones being ridiculous on Sunday, his YPA was near the bottom of the league, and his other stats were hardly impressive. He's right on average at the moment, 17th in YPA, 19th in TD:INT Ratio and 16th in Completion Percentage. 17. Andy Dalton (53) [+10] Andy seems to have gotten over the rookie slump pretty quick. What he's doing is pure game managing right now, and if you want to see how well that works, take a look at the guy one spot ahead of him.Dalton isn't doing well getting the ball down the field, but he's making safe throws in an offense built for his game. 18. Jason Campbell (55) [-7] Well he's hurt now, but the big difference between him and the other guys on the roster are pretty obvious. 4 INT's for Campbell in 5.5 games, 9 INT's for Boller and Palmer in 2.5 games. 19. Matt Moore (57) [NR] Matt Moore's great game against the chiefs only made him an average QB. He always seems to play his best when it's time to get on this list though. Is he among us right now? 20. Donovan McNabb (58) [+1] Well the Vikings have moved on from the McNabb project, and it might be for good measure. 27th in YPA, and 23rd in completion percentage, the only thing stopping him from complete terribleness is doing what he does best, avoiding interceptions. 21. Mark Sanchez (60) [+9] He's still trying to live down the Baltimore game, and his completion percentage leaves you wanting, but is he finally not gonna throw interceptions like a crazy person now? He only has 7 on the year. 22. Matt Cassel (64) [+5] He actually improved some on the Chiefs winning streak, despite managing to have worse passing games overall. The best explanation I have is other players did a lot worse over the span, and there are quite a few new bad QB's on this list that weren't on the week 5 one. 23. Josh Freeman (66) [-5] What the heck happened Josh? I mean INT's usually regress to the mean, but not with this much vengeance. He's not getting the ball down the field, so I can only assume Mike Williams is dead in the water. His Completion Percentage is actually top 10 this year, so there's a glint of hope for you bucs fans. 24t. Chad Henne (67) [-1] Injured, can't really say much. Lolphins. 24t. Kevin Kolb (67) [-10] Man the Cardinals got ripped off, they could have had a QB who would do the exact same damage (Orton) for a whole lot less. Here's what I said in week 5: It's nice to see Kevin Kolb holding his own out there. He's not going to be beating up the elite teams, but average play is a good start. I am eating toast right now. 26. Joe Flacco (73) [-8] Can't complete a pass to save his life, yet he plays two minute drills like a champ. Isn't getting the ball down the field effectively, but the Ravens insist he continues to throw it. I don't understand Flacco at all. 27. Tarvaris Jackson (75) [-9] Color me unimpressed. 4 interceptions in 2 games, a lot of yards but poor passes all around. The only thing that stopping him from the bench is Clipboard Jesus. 28. Colt McCoy (76) [-5] The Browns offense is looking like the Rams offense of last year, Pat Shurmur cannot run a west coast offense with any effectiveness it seems. Somehow the Browns have fluked out 3 wins, and they're all on the defense. 29. Kyle Orton (79) [-7] Get benched, Orton. He might be tiered as a bad QB, but he is just so much worse than that. Don't ever look back, Coach Fox. 30t. John Beck (83) [NR] 30t. Rex Grossman (83) [-1] No discernible difference between Rex and Beck, but if you want to go with the guy who gives you better shot to win, you take the guy with the higher Yards Per Attempt. They've still got more problems than QB to deal with, but neither option is really viable. 32. Blaine Gabbert (89) [0] He's last in YPA, he's last in completion percentage, the only thing stopping him from kissing the bottom is a small aversion towards interceptions. Hold your head high Bust Gabbro, you are not the worst QB in the league this time around. 33. Curtis Painter (91) [NR] What a dropoff. Kerry Collins was ranked 31st on the week 5 grouping, and now Painter is 33rd. Peyton wasn't quite at the top the past few seasons, but the disparity is enormous. In YPA, in Completion percentage, and especially in turnovers. The only thing Colts fans care about is the wins, and that one is a big goose egg. 34. Sam Bradford (93) [-11] And the biggest drop off goes to Mr. Sam Bradford. Suddenly those Ric Mirer comparisons are burning the truth into your eye sockets. You're welcome. He wasn't that good last year, and he hasn't improved at all this year, when the Rams desperately needed him to. 1-7, 6.17 Yards per Attempt, 54.55% completion percentage, and a mediocre 1:1 TD:INT ratio. I'm sure you're all thinking about the best QB of this draft class right now... Jimmy Clausen. Just short of qualification: Kerry Collins 98 Attempts Tim Tebow 97 Attempts Christian Ponder 77 Attempts
RazorStar 4,025 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) We have a new addition to the terrible tier, welcome Curtis Painter, you suck ass.
