Jags sign Malik Jackson and Chris Ivory

Recommended Posts

Per Rotoworld.com:

Jaguars agreed to terms with DL Malik Jackson, formerly of the Broncos, on a six-year, $90 million contract.

The deal includes a whopping $42 million guaranteed, making Jackson one of the highest paid defensive players in league history. He'll get $45 million over the first three years of the deal. Coming off a monster 2015, Jackson, who turned 26 last month, will be transitioning from a 3-4 attack to a 4-3 defense, but has the skills to collapse the pocket no matter the system. It's a huge get for the Jaguars, who desperately need to goose their pass rush in Year 4 of the Gus Bradley era. Mar 8 - 2:38 PM

Jags also signed Chris Ivory as well. They are making some moves.

I like the fact Titans and Jags are going at it in free agency. Bring back that epic rivalry. Fuck the Colts. Malik got paiddd

Congrats on the free agency championship. It's the only thing those teams will be winning. :smug:

Free agency may be the only thing they win, but only because they refuse to take what is given to them -- like division titles

I'm genuinely interested to see how he does as the focal point of a defense.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Chris Ivory was signed in part to keep T.J. Yeldon healthy.

"We look at it as a way to help him, just for his health," Bradley said. "It’s a long season and to have two or three backs that you can count on, that’d be an asset for our team." Yeldon was a three-down workhorse as a rookie, playing over 75 percent of the offensive snaps while healthy and averaging 18 touches a game. He broke down somewhat under that workload, missing a game with a groin injury early in the season and the final three games with a sprained MCL. Ivory's presence could help Yeldon stay on the field, but it will also lighten his workload and seriously dampen his already small touchdown upside. Yeldon is shaping up as more of a FLEX option this season.
