What Game Are You Currently Playing?

AC Brotherhood. I like how how the system for buying and renovating properties continues to progress... but the story is starting to drag a little, IMO. I am not very far, so maybe it will catch up.

I think that Brotherhood was my favorite game in the series, I loved nearly everything about the game. My one issue was the defending the district mini games, very happy that they didn't bring that back in subsequent games.

I recreated Braxton Miller in the 5th year of my Minnesota dynasty, and I was his leading school. I was ranked #1, undefeated, just came off of a big win against #12 Northwestern, and I see that he commits to Michigan. The ENTIRE season, I was his #1 choice. Before the Northwestern game, it even said "Soft-Minn" on his commitment status. I was so enraged by this that I damn near deleted my dynasty. My QB next year is fucking ass, and I play on All-American.

Now that I am 2/3 or so through Brotherhood, I feel I can give more analysis on it (from my POV, of course).

The story is most definitely the weakest of the series, so far. It seems like they cut WAY back on the number of truly significant assassinations you must complete... It also feels like they added in twice as many escort missions and missions that require you to follow people undetected -- and of course these take up an uncanny amount of time.

Not much a fan of the Leonardo sup-plot with his war machines, either. Wish he did more helping you, outside of re-making a few pieces of gear that you had before... lol.

Overall though, the game itself and the mechanics within the game are the best of the series. Maybe that should be a no brainer, but there aren't that many sequels or series of games that truly evolve at the right pace and in the right direction.

Love they brought back the Assassin/Romulus Tombs (although I would much rather have Altair's armor over the Romulus stuff). I like the challenge and IMO, the puzzles have a nice degree of difficulty as to where it still feels rewarding at the end... but not difficult enough to get you frustrated.

The buying of monuments and general renovations of shops is awesome. Great way of making money. And the whole get-up with recruiting folks for the assassins and sending them out on missions is awesome -- one of my favorite new additions since ACII.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the addition of the crossbow. After you get to a certain point in the game, the throwing knives (which I also love) just become worthless because it takes two of them to kill a guard... Crossbow is basically a more powerful version of the knives and it is well received.

Does anyone use the poison? lol... Didn't think so.

The fighting overall is a nice stepping stone as well. Smoother action sequences with better kill animations.

One small...tiny...nearly insignificant thing though...It's basically impossible to die in this game. You are a trained assassin going after these clumsy guards and they have no shot. Ezio could be outnumbered by 100 and comes out without taking a shot... Now, that's not my complaint. When you fall down... Either if you do get hit once and go to the ground or you get a rock thrown at you and you fall from a building and hit the ground... You are on the ground FOREVER. It takes Ezio 30 seconds to climb a Borgia Tower, but 30 minutes to get off his ass and back onto his feet. Incredibly annoying, even though it is a very minor aspect of the game.

One small...tiny...nearly insignificant thing they improved on though is the looting system. In the previous games it was completely and utterly a waste of time to loot bodies. Not only did you get practically nothing, but killing high end enemies still netted you nothing. In Brotherhood, those lame basic guards still give you nothing... However, the more skilled and trained the enemy AI is, the better loot you get -- which is how it should have been from the first title.

Also, like Funny mentioned before... He mentioned how he got all of the achievements from the first two games, but Brotherhood was the first one he didn't really go completionist on.. Same way here. I didn't get every single achievement in the first two games, but pretty close. Brotherhood, I might be lucky to get half to 2/3 of the total achievements and I am honestly kinda fine with that. Not sure why that is, exactly... I do think they are almost adding too much stuff to do though. I know that sounds kind of weird... But there is just so much side crap (crap, relatively speaking) compared to the main plot and meat of the story that it just begins to feel really repetitive.Kinda goes back to my point earlier about less significant deaths, but eh.. Worth mentioning, IMO.

Love the game overall though. Probably my favorite so far, but just barely edges out 2. I think they made enough improvements over 2 to make it an overall better experience even though the story is seriously lacking (IMO).

Gonna try powering through the last portion of this game this weekend so I can move onto Revelations. Gamestop was having a 2 for 1 sale on used games the other day so I scooped up both Revelations and ACIII (as well as The Witcher 2 [NOTE:Unrelated]{NOTE: Parenthesis are awesome})

/AC:Brotherhood Rant

EDIT: Oh, one more thing... Is it just me or do banks rob us blind? lmao. It says deposits are made every 20 minutes, and I firmly stand behind the opinion that this is not true. Maybe I am just more bored than I think and time isn't going by... but it feels like the bank rarely makes payouts.

Poison is only for hilarity. I use it to stab those shovy assholes and then throw money at their feet.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Awesome game. My only complaint is that it's not too challenging.

poison is for the lols. stabbing the heaviest type of guard and watching him destroy with his double-axe is amusing. also, poison is 100% guaranteed to NOT draw attention, even if you walk up to their face and stab them, just the way the animation is I guess.

anyway, witcher 2 is my favourite RPG title and probably game ever, tell me when you get around to it.

New avatar, new game.

About (I think) halfway or maybe a tad less than halfway through AC: Revelations

Combat is pretty much the same as far as smoothness goes. Really like the addition of the hook blade. Feel like the whole new bomb making mechanic is overdone. I don't really care to make bombs... It's cool to have a bunch of options, but I don't actually want to make them.

It seems like Ubisoft tried artificially making the game harder. While I wouldn't mind a harder game, they didn't make the actual combat harder. They have made it harder to erase your notoriety which means you are getting into a lot more fights, which is just a complete annoyance. It really ticks me off... lmao.

I like the new den defense mechanism, but it kinda goes into what I said about Brotherhood. It just seems like they are overwhelming us with a bunch of average - above average side content to steer us away from what is a rather short main story line. There isn't as much meat on the bone of the main plot as there was in AC and AC II, and they are just filling that empty space with mini-games, bomb making, etc. Just too much "other stuff" in these games right now.

As far as the story goes, I am enjoying it a lot. It started off a little rough... I don't think the transition from the end of Brotherhood into the beginning of Revelations was done very well. Seems like a lot is missing. But after you get over that, it's really pretty good.

I really love the elder Ezio. Just more refined, wise, etc. Definitely my favorite version of the character, even though to me it seems like they are setting me up for a very very sad ending... Also like that we get little snippets of Altair.

More after I beat it.

Definitely lol. I think AC is almost on-par with Bioshock as far as mind-fuck endings though. I'm interested to see how you feel about Revelations by the time you complete it. Imo, it was my least favorite of the series. The story was kind of confusing (go figure) and it didn't add enough to differentiate itself from brotherhood.

I've been playing some Need For Speed Rivals while I take a break from park building. It's a fun-ass game. Amazing speed, and playing as the cops is pretty cool.

Done. Loved it. Definitely leaves you with some questions, but it actually gave you some answers as well. That entire last chapter (titled for the game -- Revelations) was fantastic. Finally. Ha.

Loved the ending to Altair... Loved the ending to Ezio...

As far as pure mechanics go, I would not choose this game. Way too much side crap. As far as story, this destroys Brotherhood and because of the ending I may even put it ahead of II (which I would put above 1).

I really really despised leaving Rodrigo Borgia alive at the end of II. Felt so empty and stupid. Hated how his death played out in Brotherhood, what a joke. The thought of killing Cesare was very enlightening until about 3/4 - 4/5 through the game when you realize he is just a sick little pampered douche and not some epic bad ass.

Also, Revelations still lacked the sheer number of worthy kills as I complained about in Brotherhood, but the monologues by Ezio (writing to Claudia) really filled that void to an extent -- minus the killing.

So ya.. Revelations had probably my favorite finish, overall story, and an equally good flow of game mechanics as previous titles. It also had my favorite character / version of a character out of the entire series thus far as well. (The more senior Ezio).

There were some kind of jumbled parts and jumping around that I thought was weird but.. Dayum... This sucks. No more Ezio. :( No more Altair. :(

I almost want to just stop playing these games. I know very little about AC III besides some dude named Connor and the Revolutionary War. I am not really that excited for it, to be honest. I am pretty satisfied. I don't see any way that they could top this with III, I just don't. I could be wrong, but.... I would be shocked.

I will play them, but.. I might branch of and get some other games out of the way until then. I dunno yet...

As far as mindfuck endings go, lol. AC3 definitely has one.

Yep, I really enjoyed 3 myself. Running through the trees is fun. The only place it really sucks is the towns, which is mostly because they have no big buildings and it can be really tough to run across the rooftops. There's also tons of rooftop guards, like way to many. 3 has my favorite weapons though. I used the badass assassin hatchet like the whole game, easily my favorite weapon aside from the Brutus dagger in Brotherhood. The bow is pretty awesome as well.

AC3 was great, but I'm hoping AC4 will be better because you'll have more naval warfare. Is the naval aspect restricted to missions and side missions or can you go out on the seas whenever?

Oh, you're in the ship like 80% of the game. The Jackdaw (the ship) is your home base actually.

Do you get to freely sail on the open seas, or is your action on the ship largely confined to combat?
