Warning! Spoilers for The Walking Dead season six finale follow!

After The Walking Dead Season 6 Finale ended in a huge cliffhanger, fans have been speculating as to how long they will have to wait to find out who was on the receiving end of Negan's bat. Given The Walking Dead's tendency to sometimes focus on different story lines from episode to episode, some fans have been wondering if The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere might focus on the Alexandria Safe-Zone or Morgan and Carol rather than dealing with the Negan cliffhanger.

However, The Walking Dead fans can put their minds at ease. In an interview with Comicbook.com, showrunner Scott Gimple confirmed that Negan's kill will be addressed in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere - and it will be brutal.

"In many ways, what we saw last night was the end of the story of season six," says Gimple. "Where Rick winds up is completely different from where he started in episode one and episode nine. I've known for a while what is in 701 and presenting what occurs and to show what happened in full force. It is the beginning of the next story. The two - the showing of, it's an incredible work of gore by Charlie Adlard in the book, how we show that on TV - I'm certain that we'll be pushing some boundaries with it."

"Things are going to start off very, very, very dark because everybody knows where we're starting," Gimple says before a promising, "but that won't be the whole season."

In the mean time, Gimple doesn't think fans should waste their time trying to figure out who spent their last day on earth this Sunday. According to him, the answers aren't there yet.

"I believe there is no way," Gimple says of whether or not people can solve the cliffhanger based on the finale episode. "There are a couple of things in there that might help people possibly limit the amount of people who are vulnerable but I will say, I would recommend people not to go down that route. I truly don't think there is a way to puzzle it all out definitively. And I'll tell you the reasoning behind that: because these are incredibly smart fans to start with. Then you put it to this incredible crowd sourcing and there will get it. I'll tell you this with certainty - people will figure out exactly what happens in episode one even though aren't clues to determine it. I'm not talking about spoilers. People will figure it out and there's things in one that there's no way they should be able to. I've just seen it again and again - if you put this many smart people together, I don't know if they're tapping into the idea space of it all or if we're talking about a collective consciousness or something but at this point, it's amazing. People figure things out. Granted, it might be one comment among a thousand comments but there is absolutely no doubt that someone will figure it out. There will be no way they can figure it out but they'll still figure it out."

Not much, even the fact that they have a vulgar version of his speech, can rectify the mess they've made, imo. Just read the comics.

While I will say that I liked JDM as Negan, I think they'll write him retardedly. He is clean shaven, boisterous, and "comedic" in the comics, despite his stature and ruthlessness. In the show they had him talk quietly, slowly, and just broke his smartassed, hilarious speech down.

I was ready for this to be the rejuvenating finale the show needed, seeing as it was probably the single most iconic scene in the books. But instead it was a drawn-out, monumental failure.

Ummm the 2nd to last episode was god fucking awful and the finale was pretty shitty too overall. Like Stevo said all I could think about was the show runners sitting in a room brainstorming about how to end the season and being like " we will show everyone's faces one at a time and let the suspense build!! We are geniuses!! Omg which one are we gonna kill????" That was just really bad. It feels like a cheap gimmick rather than good storytelling. breaking bad or game of thrones never would do shit like that. Even if they did show who died, I'd still feel like that was the corniest ending ever. Does Neagon do Eenie menie minie moe in the comics or did the show just make that up? If thats what happened in the comics I guess it's forgiveable.

I watched ep 15 and 16 back to back and I'm just kind of frustrated cause not a god damn thing happened. Morgan is a waste of time, plz get eaten.

Neagon is freaking awesome, and kind of likable? I thought he delivered on expectations. Kind of a reasonable guy IMO and he was funny. It wasn't an iconic moment at all but it was a good intro. If it was supposed to be the best scene in the show then I agree they fucked up.

I'd argue Negan has shown to be completely unreasonable.

Negan in the comics is simply fucking amazing. I wish everyone here had read the books so we could discuss that.

This show has sucked for a while now. How many times have they left us with a terrible cliff hanger? They said the actors don't even know who died yet

Which is pretty messed up and tells me they probably couldn't decide on who to kill.

Yeah, wasn't a fan of ending it like that either (the show's way.) The guy who did Trevor's voice in GTA and was Negan's main goon chasing down Rick did a great acting job though, more so than JDM I thought :yep:

Pee Pee Pants City was taken from the comic... How creative. Well done, Kirkman.

A quote of what Vin posted:

"In many ways, what we saw last night was the end of the story of season six," says Gimple. "Where Rick winds up is completely different from where he started in episode one and episode nine. I've known for a while what is in 701 and presenting what occurs and to show what happened in full force. It is the beginning of the next story. "Things are going to start off very, very, very dark because everybody knows where we're starting," Gimple says before a promising, "but that won't be the whole season."

That...does not at all justify the cliffhanger. The brutal murder of one of Rick's crew is the end of one story and the beginning of another regardless of how the writers/directors/showrunners want to show it. Turning it into a season-ending cliffhanger is just a dick move.

If anything, the way they ended it understates the murder and lessens its impact. Imagine the final image of season 6 being Abraham's/Daryl's/Glenn's/Michonne's/Sasha's/Maggie's/whoever's dead body, skull bashed in and face covered in blood. That leaves a taste in your mouth. That sticks. That stays with viewers between seasons.

If you want to know how to do season-ending cliffhangers, see season 3 of Breaking Bad.

I rewatched it, it was better on the 2nd watch. The actor who played Negan was really damn good IMO.

You have to go back further than just the intro scene to see how fully dumb that cat-and-mouse shit in the show was.

People are speculating they are going to use contract negotiations to determine the Lucille victim. It makes sense since some of the cast are due for new contracts now

I just really hope it's Darryl. Killing him will further kill off the fan base of this shit show. I mean they already renewed FTWD... I'm really tired of zombies, aren't you all? :sigh:

Zombies basically a mild annoyance or accessory in TWD now though.

Zombies basically caused all these groups to fight for survival though.
