Except reading it carefully, you should never take the 2 points anyway because you'll get fucked over anyway. Scenario 1: Take 2 Points, Less than 10% take 6. (You stay at parity with ~90 of the class, a small fraction gets further ahead of you.) Scenario 2: Take 2 points, more than 10% take 6. (You stay at parity with the class. This is actually a better case scenario than 1 unless absolutely everyone takes 2) Scenario 3: Take 6 points, less than 10% take 6. (You stay ahead of ~90% of the class, and parity with the rest. Obviously if you were the only person to take 6, that'd be the best case of all.) Scenario 4: Take 6 points, more than 10% take 6. (You stay at parity with the class, same as scenario 2.) So naturally you take the option that gives you a chance at an upside. If the two points were guaranteed regardless of what the class chose, there may be an argument but I'd still probably take 6.
