BLUE 1,026 Posted July 29, 2011 Per Rotoworld.com: Panthers agreed to terms with No. 1 overall pick QB Cam Newton on a fully guaranteed four-year, $22 million contract. There's also a fifth-year non-guaranteed option worth $14 million. For frame of reference, Sam Bradford landed a six-year, $78 million deal with $50 in guarantees last year. We've quickly learned that the new CBA has taken all of the suspense out of first-round contracts while effectively shutting down rookie holdouts. As of early July, the Charlotte Observer was convinced Jimmy Clausen would open the season as the Panthers starter. Barring a veteran addition such as Marc Bulger, Newton has a fair shot to take the reins even with a lost offseason. RazorStar 4,025 Posted July 30, 2011 I still think Clausen could beat Newton out of a job.
KiLaSix9+ 398 Posted July 30, 2011 Man, I love the rookie wage scale. Best thing that came out of the CBA IMO.
DonovanMcnabb for H.O.F 2,241 Posted July 30, 2011 Cheering for him to succeed. Anxious to see if he starts in week 1.
KeVo 176 Posted July 30, 2011 Now those numbers are more like what a number one draft pick should look like. Love the wage scale.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted July 30, 2011 I still think Clausen could beat Newton out of a job. No chance. Clausen is a borderline NFL player at best. He will be out of the league shortly.
BradyFan81 404 Posted July 30, 2011 This is weird as fuck seeing the top draft pick actually signing a reasonable deal. Love the new rookie wage system.
Thanatos 2,847 Posted August 9, 2011 Yup, the rookie wage system is great. Now the salary for people who have never even played in the NFL is at least reasonable.
