Flag will not be lowered to half mast for Chris Kyle.

Recommended Posts

You honestly that is the same as voluntarily going into a situation where people are trying to actively kill you?

I mean, yeah, if they're doing ti for douchebag reasons they don't deserve respect. All I'm saying is, I give it to them unless they show me they don't deserve it. Maybe its just growing up as a military kid and having to watch two of my friends go through losing a parent.

Then we're debating a point we agree on. I'm saying that I don't respect the cats who think they deserve it, because 9 out of 10 times they walk around with an entitlement complex and act like they're the shit.

Yes, I do think it's the same. They choose to do it. They aren't forced to, or inclined to--they sign up.

Should we have half-masted one day for Chris Kyle? Sure. Yeah, sure, but imagine the precedent set by half-masting for a veteran? Why don't we just fly half mast every day until it isn't special anymore?

This pretty much sums up how I feel about it. Enlisted soldiers and veterans alike die every day. We can't keep the flag at half-staff forever. And I don't think having "x" amount of confirmed kills makes you some kind of American hero either. That's great that he was an elite sniper, but prior to this picture that's been going viral on Facebook how many of the people sharing it knew who the fuck Chris Kyle was? Bet you it's about 1% of them.

Notice how most of the liberals are focusing their posts on Chris Kyle and not the ridiculous decision to lower it half mast for Whitney Houston because Obama did it lol...

Because I think pretty much everyone here agrees about Whitney Houston.

Bware didn't think so. Zack and Phail who are mostly liberal didn't comment on the Whitney Houston side of things?

So far it seems like your assumption is quite the stretch.

Kyle was a military icon, not an American icon. It is simple as that.

Obviously. Just pointing out that you didn't want to knock Obama so instead focused on Chris Kyle.

I think anyone could see that's what I was trying to get at lol...

I don't know how it works in your states but here in New York State we are told to lower the flag to half mast anytime someone in the military from New York State dies in combat or whatever. Maybe it's different everywhere else I don't know just thought I'd point that out.

Edit: LOL me putting mass instead of mast

I've knocked on Obama plenty here and other places for some of his policies. Criticizing him for lowering the flag to half-staff over Whitney Houston is trivial at best.

I disagree. What were his motives ? That is what gets me. Why did he do it ? Was it because he liked her music ? If so should presidents be able to do that ? Was it because she was an African American icon..hopefully not. If you are going to do something like that at least make it someone who you can respect like Colin Powell, Morgan Freeman, Clifford Johnson, or William Coleman. Men who have contributed to society and the betterment of mankind who were true pioneers or philanthropists.

Doing it for Whitney Houston is a disgrace in my opinion.

I also agree with the sentiment shared by many about how veterans who act like they created the fucking military are overbearing and in general classless douches who deserve nothing but the ire of people. The ones who are entitled are generally the ones who have done nothing or wish they had a more interesting job than being a local water purification specialist.

The one thing I will disagree with is that it is just another job. I think that is a fallacy. I respect farmers as well as anybody else who in general are hard working people who are just trying to make a living and provide for their family. That is an absolutely honorable cause and it deserves respect as much as anything else. The farmer and the soldier both deserve respect, but to think that their jobs are comparable because they chose that is not true imo. Saying a soldiers job is just another job is completely false, those who have done it would would tell you it is far from another job.

After reading Ngata's response to my post I, too, became curious why Obama would do such a thing. Turns out he didnt. Whoops

It won't let me copy + paste. Scroll to the last paragraph.

Interesting. So as usual the media has duped us.... bitches. I still think he could have stopped it (legally), but that is not nearly the same as ordering it to be done.

You are a scholar and a gentleman. Although the media has been raising hell about this too.

so you're saying it was actually Chris Christie who had flags lowered (throughout NJ) for Whitney Houston? and that it was the NJ state flag, not the US flag that was lowered? interesting, of course it doesn't change my opinion at all regarding how ridiculous it is, but it's kinda funny that people looking to nitpick at Obama have actually used an action taken by one of the most prominent Republicans

Now I think Maverick's comment might apply to me... because I don't want to bash on Christie. :ninja:

No but seriously I think the stupidity behind lowering the flags for Houston goes without saying.
