Razor's 2013 QB Rankings

Recommended Posts

Week 11 is done, and what a week it was. The pretenders fell like a house of cards to the elite, and the QB picture got even larger as The Amish Rifle, Shane Falco and Lionel Richie are new permanent fixtures on this list. The biggest riser this time around is Carson Palmer, who got to feast on the Jags D. The biggest drops come from young QBs Geno Smith and Colin Kaepernick who have both been woefully inconsistent. The race for top spot is becoming a thing to watch as Nick Foles is trying to break into the elite hemisphere after being criticized all season long. Cam Newton and Russell Wilson have been slowly rising all season long as well. Just something to note.

Just going rank by rank and adding up. Nickfoleon Dynamite for example is 10th in Completion percentage, and 1st in all other categories for a score of 13. Peyton is 2nd in completion% and TD%, 5th in INT% and 4th in YPA, for a score of 13.

For the tiers, if someone is in the top third in a category, they get one point. If they are in the bottom third, they get -2 points. Again, just straight adding.

Replace Foles and McCown with Brady and Ryan and I would say your rankings are pretty accurate on how I would rate the QBs.

They just have few attempts and no real games against tight defenses.

Razor's system is a very good one, it simply values quality of play over everything else. As long as they have enough plays to qualify, a guy with 150 attempts with a slightly better end score will lead a guy with 600 attempts with a slightly worse end score.

You just have to take that into account.

Pleasantly shocked at what Nick Foles has become. Dude has 4 starts, and Matt Ryan has started all year. Same number of touchdowns, yet Matt Ryan has 12 INT's, and Foles has yet to throw one.

Week 12 is in the books, and after watching some poor teams get dismantled, we have a lot of shakeups in the middle. Sophomore phenoms Andrew Luck and RG3 are falling like rocks, while other QB's like Carson Palmer and Ryan Fitzpatrick are finding some redemption. The Inconsistent or unspectacular tier has never been so muddled with a ton of guys starting to fill in there. Still, the cream rises to the top, and right now those guys are Foles, Peyton, Rodgers and Brees. The season is still young, and there looks to be a lot of change to come.

What a week of football, First time since the start of the season where we had all 32 teams playing. Nick Foles may not be a fluke with the way he's playing, and Marc Trestman is doing everything in his power to make Josh McCown into Rich Gannon. Meanwhile, the power is continuing to shift at the top. Russell Wilson keeps climbing the rankings, and now he's tied with Peyton Manning at the third spot. With Aaron Rodgers coming back from injury soon, the race for the top will be one hell of a dogfight. And despite Brandon Weeden's god awful second quarter against the Jags, Geno Smith played bad enough to be ranked under him. What a way to go. Being worse than Weeden is the point of no return for most QB's. Speaking of points of no return, Ryan Fitzpatrick may have made the biggest fall I have ever seen this late in the season. He went down 15 spots... that's incredible.

I honestly think this is the most in flux the rankings have been this late in the season. The People's champ, Tommy Brady keeps rising up the rankings, and we have a new number one QB. Josh McCown and Peyton Manning are tied for the top spot, but the top 5 right now is decided by a mere two points. Some really big fallers this week, Kellen Clemens and EJ Manuel are plummetting to the shitter while Mike Glennon and Case Keenum seem to be leveling out to average. There are big risers as well, Jason Campbell is battling to be average, while good Andy Dalton may be back in Cincy.

Some major flux this week as players with not a lot of snaps fly up and down the board. Matt Flynn and Matt Cassel pick on the garbage defenses in the NFC East and fly to the top of the rankings while UDFA's Case Keenum and Matt McGloin fall like bricks. Aaron Rodgers becomes the new number 1 by virtue of doing nothing. Two weeks left, how will the top ten change as december continues it's relentless assault?

One more week to go, and the race for first is as tight as it gets. The legend of Nick Foles will be tested against the Cowboys, who are the only team who seemed to have an answer for him, BREAK HIS BALLS. Peyton will be able to prove his worth in a garbage game against a garbage defense, and Aaron Rodgers might get an opportunity to spank the Bears. Matt Flynn and Matt Cassel fell a lot, so Newton went up by virtue of that. Tommy Brady also had an awful start to the year, where he was close to Joe Flacco and Eli Manning for the first half of the season.

The winter's over, the war is over. Peyton Manning ends his historic season with a curb stomping of the Raiders defense. Nick Foles played much better in his return to Dallas, and Aaron Rodgers got a chance to improve on his numbers in a beautiful win against the Bears. Winners roll on, as 9 of the top 13 QB's on my rankings are in the playoffs, and the 4 that aren't missed the mark by a single game.
