GA_Eagle 595 Posted May 17, 2014 Feel free to tweak your list, nothing's set in stone yet. Fair enough. Tweeked the list on page 1 to attempt to get you a few more names. Dunno if you'll get enough for 64 so you might need to trim it anyway
Vin+ 3,121 Posted May 17, 2014 I'd say let's put 48 in the pool. Single elimination bracket, the top 16 get a "bye." There's 38 so far that I'm comfortable with. The other 8 only have one vote, but they were in people's top 5s. Then there's 80+ that only received one vote that are on the outside looking in.
ATL_Predator+ 1,196 Posted May 17, 2014 So you're pretty much saying... fuck ATL's top 5? I see how it is.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted May 17, 2014 Don't believe I said that at all.

BJORN 679 Posted May 19, 2014 So Ozzy is obviously going to win this thing, right?

Vin+ 3,121 Posted June 1, 2014 I am at an impasse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWUQzbYUqGA Right now we're sitting at 38 locks, those with multiple votes, then we have another 14 with one vote, but they were in people's top fives, and then another 88 with just a single vote, leaving us with a total of 140, if my math (and count of candidates) is correct. We can either: 1. Greatly whittle down the list, somehow get the locks and those that were in top 5s to 48 (or 64, whichever) 2. Blow this thing wide open and go with a massive 128-man tourney, whittling down only a few names to get to 128. The top X amount would get byes, which would make the majority of those mentioned with just one vote duke it out against each other. I personally like this option because who doesn't like variety? 3. Something I hadn't mentioned. Thought of some other ideas, but they have slipped my mind at the moment. What say ya'll?
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted June 1, 2014 Find a way to get 48. I'd say let's put 48 in the pool. Single elimination bracket, the top 16 get a "bye."
Vin+ 3,121 Posted June 1, 2014 Safe to say that SteVo's firmly in the 48 camp. NEED MORE RESPONSES.
Bay 2,003 Posted June 1, 2014 Just get this rolling. Thank you.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted June 1, 2014 Working on it, ay Bay Bay.
Bay 2,003 Posted June 1, 2014 Didn't mean to sound pushy but it would be cool to start.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) I've run a million tournaments and similar thingys on here Vincenzo, and Bay speaks for the masses. It's very easily to get caught up in the logistics of the setup, but you need to get going as soon as possible. This thread started on April 18th. It's been a month and a half, and we haven't started yet. LET'S GO. Now take my 48-bracket idea. Edited June 1, 2014 by SteVo
Vin+ 3,121 Posted June 2, 2014 I anticipated the nomination process taking forever anyway. This was mainly intended to be an offseason thing anyway, so at least now we're in full offseason mode.
GA_Eagle 595 Posted June 2, 2014 Go with 48. The top guys will be the really important ones in the end
ATL_Predator+ 1,196 Posted June 2, 2014 I think my list wins by default.
Zack_of_Steel+ 3,014 Posted June 3, 2014 (edited) Two names that likely haven't been mentioned, just for the sake of expanding the list a bit. Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Eagles of Death Metal) Here's one you guys probably recognize. Shows his range. Daron Malakian (System of a Down, Scars on Broadway) Edited June 3, 2014 by Zack_of_Steel
Zack_of_Steel+ 3,014 Posted June 3, 2014 I'm going for a combination of vocal talent and writing ability. These are not in any order. Some of these are obviously stronger than others, but if we're going for 48... Bon Scott/Brian Johnson (AC/DC) Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave, etc.) Paul McCartney John Lennon George Harrison (underrated as fuck as a vocalist, though he was a better guitarist) Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) Ozzy Osbourne Matthew Shultz (Cage the Elephant) Dave Matthews David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) Chino Moreno (Deftones) Jim Morrison (The Doors) Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) Marilyn Manson Aaron Weiss (mewithoutYou) Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse - You knew I was going there, stfu) Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) Black Francis (Pixies) Jack White (The White Stripes, The Raconteurs) Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Eagles of Death Metal) Daron Malakian (System of a Down, Scars on Broadway) Serj Tankian (System of a Down, Solo) Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Mick Jagger (The Rolling Stones) Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins, Solo) Britt Daniel (Spoon) Tom Petty Warren Zevon Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)
Vin+ 3,121 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) Thanks, Zack. That helped clear up most of the problems I was having. Gotta gather some music and then polls shall be posted. Edited June 4, 2014 by Vin
BLUE 1,026 Posted June 18, 2014 I don't think he's in this, but what do you guys think about Jim Croce if he was? I'm not saying he'd make it far, and I only have myself to blame for not nominating anyone ITT, but he's easily one of my favorite folk rock singers.
