At least Jerry didn't sign Joe Flacco to $20 million A YEAR like that dumb motherfucker in Baltimore did. :yao:

Not sure if you noticed but even serviceable QBs get paid in today's league. You don't have to be elite to get a big time check at the QB position. Not to mention Flacco won them a superbowl lol. You can justify that. Justifying trading a draft pick for a troublesome prone retired player who failed conditioning test? Not so much :yao:

Well, led them to a superbowl. Either way, he played a big part in it.

So you'd pay Trent Dilfer $20 million too?

The disparity between the two QBs are too great to make a reasonable comparison. Flacco played a much bigger part in his Superbowl than Dilfer.

And his body of work tells me he didn't deserve half of the $20 million a year.

Lol

Flacco probably restructures or is cut within two years. It wasn't as bad as it seemed when I first heard it, but it was still really dumb. To everyone but Ngata it was completely obvious that Flacco would have shit himself hard without Boldin. If they were going to give anyone 20 million for leading them to a Super Bowl it should have been him lol. The Ravens will be ok as long as they draft well though because they got a ton of compensatory picks for losing all those free agents and they did work the Jags getting Monroe.

This thread is officially derailed, but I think it's really interesting to think about what would have happened had Newsome essentially told Flacco to fuck off with $20 million per year, and let him hit free agency.

Would anybody have given him that contract on the open market? Probably. So what would the Ravens have done? Obviously they would have had a lot more cap space, but who's their quarterback? The 2013 draft (the year Flacco got his mega contract) was historically bad for quarterbacks. Do they just build around the QB position, tank the 2013 season, and go all in for Bortles, Bridgewater, or Manziel?

The only teams that would have given Flacco money are stupid teams like Oakland.

There are quite a few stupid teams in the NFL. It's why teams like Oakland and Cleveland continue to suck year after year.

That is more am owner decision in our organization. With that I'm not even really sure what your point is. Most people think I'm crazy because I can't stand our coach, so wouldn't that price my point.

For the billionth time, the Cowboys didn't lose a draft pick. They moved down a round, from 6th to 7th. They received a 7th in this deal.

in truth we didn't really fleece anybody we just basically gave a player away for free to be rid of his drama and headaches truth be told it's a 6th round pick what would that honestly net us ? in reality we are in a far different position than Jerry Jones we have 3 starting quality inside linebackers in Arthur Brown daryl Smith and CJ Mosley. Jerry Jones had a significant need at the position so given the opportunity he can take a player that is a bit of a head case and have the potential to have a long term solution at linebacker whereas if he did not he would have to pursue a more expensive option that would potentially not yield the same results. and then considering what could be game versus what is lost it comes to a moot point. the entire trade was set up on potential including the pics if he does not suit up for the Cowboys does not play it down nothing changes they do not trade any picks.if he turns out to have an All Pro season they give up a 6th round draft choice not really a bad deal

If the patriots did this everyone would be blowing Belichick saying "wow what a master mind, swap two picks that probably won't make the team, and pick up a talented player with great upside if it works and lose nothing if it doesn't."

But the cowboys do it and everybody raises hell about the cowboys are stupid and destined for mediocrity.

C'mon people

Exactly.

Exactly.

Belichick can afford to take that gamble because he hasn't assembled a roster full of underachieving players with shitty attitudes who have been a part of his teams inability to reach the playoffs time and time again since Jimmy Johnson left in the mid 90's.
