Seahawks @ Chiefs

(6-3) :Seahawks: @ :Chiefs: (6-3)

Welp, 90% chance of snow, looks like it will be Wilson's first snow game, which will be an adjustment. We also still won't have Bobby Wagner, and of course our first game without having Mebane at DT for the rest of the way. Really anxious to see how we look.

A few notes from Friday's version of "The Pete Carroll Show" on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM:

• Carroll said strong safety Kam Chancellor and linebacker Malcolm Smith are set to return Sunday against Kansas City after missing the last two games, each with groin injuries. "They practiced really well. They're ready to go," Carroll said. "It's a great boost for us to get those guys back on the field."

• Cornerback Byron Maxwell "will have a chance to start" Sunday, Carroll said. Maxwell returned last week after missing the previous three games with a calf strain. He didn't start, though, and only played 40 percent of the defensive snaps as the team tried to ease him back into action. It sounds like he'll play more than that Sunday. "So we really pick up three starters," Carroll said, "which is obviously a big deal."

• Middle linebacker Bobby Wagner has already been ruled out for Sunday's game, but Carroll said he's "not too far off" from returning from a toe injury that has sidelined him for the last four games. "Maybe in the next couple weeks we'll get him back, too," Carroll said. "So we're trying to get stronger as we go through the finish of the season and see if we can do something about it."

• The weekend forecast in Kansas City calls for freezing temperatures and even a 90 percent chance of snow on Saturday. How might that affect Seattle's game-plan? "Well, it depends if it's wet," Carroll said. "If the ball is slick or if the field has a problem then there's some concerns that you have to take into account. But basically we're going to do it the way we want to. We want to run the ball anyway, so that's the best way to move the football in weather when it's bad."

Sure, the Seattle Seahawks have steadied the boat with three consecutive wins. But look at who those have come against: the 3-6-1 Carolina Panthers, the 0-9 Oakland Raiders and the 3-6 New York Giants. Not exactly the toughest trio of opponents. For the Seahawks to re-establish themselves as one of the NFL's best, they need to knock off a worthy foe.

Enter the Kansas City Chiefs, who are currently on a four-game winning streak.

The Seahawks ship out to Arrowhead this weekend, when they'll face Kansas City in a battle of 6-3 teams. The matchup provides plenty of opportunities for Seattle to prove its resurgence -- as well as a slew of pitfalls that could drop it back even further behind theArizona Cardinals in the NFC West. Can Marshawn Lynch move the ball against one of the league's best defenses? Can the Seahawks' D contain Jamaal Charles? Can they handle a dose of their own medicine in a raucous stadium that recently snatched Seattle's title as loudest venue?

NFL experts are torn on predicting the winner. ESPN and CBS Sports' panelists are siding with Kansas City with a combined margin of 16 to 5. The six experts at Fox Sportsare split right down the middle. SB Nation's panel is leaning toward Seattle, with six of the eight taking the Seahawks.

Stat that you probably weren't aware of, as I wasn't. The Chiefs have allowed the fewest passing yards per game this year.

Edit: And they also havn't allowed a rushing touchdown yet.

I'm just not confident in the Chiefs. I know the Seahawks haven't been the same team, but when it comes down to it, bet against Andy Reid and Alex Smith, imo.

The Seahawks have been destroyed by injuries, and you can bet the Chiefs want a piece of them for their little competition for loudest stadium stuff. This is gonna be a drag it out bloody knuckles game as both teams attempt to establish dominance with their ground games.

Jamaal Charles rolls.

This will be the turning point toward XLIX for Seattle. Down four, three minutes left in the 4th, sitting at 6-3. Book it.

Chiefs got hosed... Blatant non-call on a holding in the endzone. Should have been a safety, but instead on the next play Wilson completes it to Baldwin for a big gain. If the Hawks drive down and win this...

RENTON, Wash. — Vice president of officiating Dean Blandino informed Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll on Thursday that Bill Leavy's crew should have called pass interference against Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith for shoving receiver Doug Baldwin off his bid to catch a 2-yard touchdown pass with 6:33 left in Seattle's 24-20 loss last Sunday.

Carroll told USA TODAY Sports Thursday the league admitted to a pair of blown pass interference calls, including one against receiver Jermaine Kearse. But the costly one proved to be Smith's shove of Baldwin.

"The interpretation was it definitely played a factor in (Baldwin's) route and it should have been called," Carroll said. "There's nothing you can do about it. You just have to live with it. That's just part of the game."

Baldwin was clearly knocked off his corner fade route as he tracked quarterback Russell Wilson's throw from the Kansas City 2-yard line towards the back of the end zone.
