What was the last movie you watched?

Recommended Posts

Prisoners.

Got damn. Great movie.

I honestly think this is the best thing that I've seen Jake Gyllenhall in. I typically dislike him in just about everything, but he was great in this and I really liked his character.

I wish I could say the same for Paul Dano. I really dislike him, or the characters he plays. He seemingly always plays some sort of creep or worm in every thing he's in. Just....offputting.

Zodiac... After that, there isn't much competition for best JG movie, IMO. lol. I really liked October Sky when I was younger though.

Her

AMAZING. Probably 3rd best movie of the year, IMO.

Blackfish
Fantastic documentary. Very interesting, unbiased, well thought out.

Hercules
Your typical cheesy B action film. All the actors were pretty bad... Except one, and that was honestly their mistake. Hiring a real actor, Liam McIntyre (Spartacus) to play this supporting role. You can't do that in these cheesy 2nd/3rd tier movies. He is so out of place because of how good of an actor he is. Cosntantly outshining everyone and eveything else happening.

Lone Survivor. Pretty good movie, and the s/o to the armed forces at the end/the unit portrayed in the movie is pretty touching. I had already known about this mission, but it was pretty cool to see a dedication to it. Some of the proceeds should go to the family of the victims, IMO. I appreciate the support for the troops in the cinema, but I always feel like they only do that because they can get big $$$ from doing something pro-troops.

9/10. My friend next to me? Yeah, she was weeping her eyes out and she usually doesn't do that.

The Departed.

I once thought Vince Gilligan was this musical genius resurrecting long lost songs, but that all changed when I heard Badfinger's - Baby Blue in this...

Source Code was solid.. Still like Zodiac more, and I would probably put Prisoners above that as well. Prisoners would have been so much better if they would have just cut 30-45 minutes out of the movie. It just drags on forever.

The Butler.

Oprah is awful in this.

Awful.

Oprah is awful period.

Prisoners is great, but it hurt my fucking stomach. All I could think about was my niece and nephew (8 and 21 months) and it was tough to get through.

Oprah is a two-faced bitch with no class.... lol. But I did think she was that bad in The Butler. Speaking of that movie though... Forrest Whitaker is one of my favorite actors and he just gets no love.

If you guys haven't yet... Go watch Last King of Scotland.

HER - As F4E said, it's really an amazing movie. Really good and I would highly recommend those that haven't seen it to do so ASAP.

Ender's Game - I enjoyed it. Nothing great, but just one of those sit down and enjoy types. I'm hoping they greenlight a sequel to the series.

Equilibrium

Hilariously awesome movie with Chritian Bale, Sean Bean, William Fichtner, etc etc. It's Matrix + 1984 / F451. It's pretty cheesy, but it's what makes it so awesome, IMO.

Sean Bean with yet another FANTASTIC death... Oh man. Master of dying.

Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin.

Returns and B&R are so, so bad. Makes me appreciate how superhero movies have evolved.

Frankenstein...

LOVE LOVE LOVED it. I would say go see it right now, honestly. It isn't that ground breakign or revolutionary.. But it's a really well done story with better writing than you would expect. Aaron Eckhart dominates.
