Tridentdawgpound 1,043 Posted May 29, 2012 Bad news for the Phillies: they just got word back from the doctors on Roy Halladay and it’s serious: a strained right latissimus dorsi strain. That’ll land him on the DL, and he’s expected to miss 6-8 weeks. This is the first time Halladay has been on the DL since 2009 and the first time with any kind of arm or shoulder problems (or problems in those areas more or less) since 2004. Halladay has clearly not been himself this season, and this injury confirms why. He hits the DL with a 4-5 record and a 3.98 ERA. And with the Phillies tied for last place, four games behind Washington. It was being termed “shoulder soreness.” While such a thing often turns out to be worse than what Halladay has — at least he doesn’t need surgery — but this is not run-of-the-mill shoulder soreness. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/05/29/roy-halladay-to-miss-six-to-eight-weeks-with-a-strained-latissimus-dorsi/ First real injury he's ever had. It'll be interesting to see him when he's back.
Sarge+ 3,436 Posted May 29, 2012 Getting old, a lot of innings on his arm, etc... This is the beginning of the end of his career. Kinda sucks but it happens to everyone.

SteVo+ 3,702 Posted May 30, 2012 Sign. Cole. Hamels. Right fucking now, Amaro.
ATL_Predator+ 1,196 Posted May 30, 2012 And...the Phillies don't look that great anymore. You lose your workhorse for an extended period of time like that...and his first injury in his career...it just goes down from there. Phillies fans are going to see how fucked their team will be come September.
BC 331 Posted May 31, 2012 I don't think the guy's career is over or anything. It's also not his first major injury. He broke his leg on July 8th, 2005 and missed the rest of the season.
Sarge+ 3,436 Posted May 31, 2012 His career isn't over but his decline has begun, IMO. Once you start getting older and getting shoulder problems, you're starting to wrap up your career.
housemd 338 Posted May 31, 2012 Sign. Cole. Hamels. Right fucking now, Amaro. You need to do it asap..He's your best pitcher this season and you can't afford to lose him..
BLUE 1,026 Posted May 31, 2012 I think it's gonna be pretty hard to re-sign Cole Hamels for the Phillies. He seems set to hit the open market, and someone will surely back up the Brinks truck for an elite southpaw in the prime of his career. I'm not sure if the Phillies can afford to be the ones to do so ...
BigBen07 285 Posted June 2, 2012 Ouch. This obviously hurts the Phillies chances.
