Anyway the Yankees are on a nice late push for the AL wildcard, making it interesting.

Bangy are you a Yankees fan now? What happened to the White Sox?

As it is well documented I like to switch teams.......

TBH I am not a fan of any baseball team right now, though that said the Yankees late season playoff push is of an interest to me.

Derek Jeter has enjoyed a great longevity for a ball player and has surely been a far above average player. I don't think if he played outside of New York however if many people would even remotely mention him for consideration in the discussion of best shortstop in history of the game....I just don't see him being there. As far as the gold gloves the defensive metrics for him have never placed him as the top fielder for his position. Sad to say but that honorific is more a popularity contest than it should be. With that said Jeter has been extraordinarily successful on teams where he was a great complement to his team but never really the straw that stirred the drink. Just my opinion and any long time baseball fan will have their own.

Derek Jeter is done for the year, Yankees have put him back on the DL with ankle issues. Is this the last that is seen of possibly the best SS in the history of baseball?

Yankees have an nice easy run but are fairly banged up right now, hoping that they can make the playoffs still

He's not even close to being the best SS in history. LOL.

How can you even say this? Jeter in his 17 years with the Yankees has 13 all star appearances (granted this really doesn't mean to much due to the voting system) but has 5 gold gloves, 4 silver slugger awards and is the all time leader in hits at the SS position. Not to mention 5 world series rings and a world series MVP to his name.

I know that there are many greats to have played SS in the history of the MLB, but to say that Jeter is not even close is ridiculous.

How can I even say that? Cause there's this guy that played named "Honus Wagner." Maybe you've heard of him. He's the best shortstop of all time, and yes, it is not even close.

Going into Washington for a 3-game set. If we take 2 of 3...we clinch. Doing it on their field would be AMAZING. Fuck them.

3-game sweep of the Rangers just completed. That included Yu getting credited with an L. Now 1-6 vs. the A's in his career. :sloth:

6.5 games up. Cuncel da saeson, Rangers. :smug:

http://blog.chron.com/sportsupdate/2013/09/according-to-nielsen-nobody-watched-astros-indians-game-sunday/?cmpid=sportshcat

According to television’s official scorekeeper, nobody in the 20-county Greater Houston area watched the Astros’ game Sunday at Cleveland.

The score was 9-2 in favor of the Indians on the scoreboard and 0.0 for Comcast SportsNet Houston — the regional network owned by the Astros, Rockets and NBC Sports Group — in the daily report compiled by the Nielsen Co., which measures television viewing levels.

It was the first time in Houston, where games have been broadcast on cable outlets since 1983, and perhaps the first time in the history of Major League Baseball that an MLB game had no measurable viewership in its home market.

By comparison, Nielsen reported that the Texans’ loss at Baltimore had a 23.0 rating, which equates to an average audience of 526,553 of Houston’s 2.28 million TV households, on KHOU (Channel 11).

Nielsen’s figures are, however, subject to challenge on a number of fronts. For one thing, the company’s business is based on the concept that Nielsen can measure what millions of television viewers are watching by monitoring the behavior of hundreds.

On Sunday, Nielsen had reports from 581 meters in Greater Houston. In any given quarter-hour between noon and 3 p.m. Sunday, anywhere from 47.6 to 52.6 percent of those meters (roughly 270 to 300) were in use by viewers watching television.

But not a single, solitary Nielsen household tuned in for as long as a few minutes in any given quarter-hour to watch the Astros lose to the Indians for their 105th defeat of the year.

Similarly, the team recorded a 0.05 rating on a September Sunday last year (en route to a 107-loss finish) on Fox Sports Houston, its former home station, which has full distribution throughout the Houston area. It is not known how many Nielsen households have access to CSN Houston, which is available to about 40 percent of area TV households.

Nielsen’s 0.0 rating does not preclude the probability that some households without Nielsen meters watched the game. Some fans also may have watched at Houston sports bars, including Griff’s and Nick’s Place, which had the game available to customers Sunday afternoon, although the larger TVs in both locations were devoted to the Texans-Ravens and Rams-Cowboys games.

Other sports bars, including Big Woodrow’s and Lucky’s Pub, said they generally show nighttime Astros games but did not show the Sunday afternoon game because of customer demand for NFL games.

Informed of the Sunday rating, an Astros spokesman said, “With respect to the Nielsen Co., as the (Chronicle) article points out, there were Astros fans watching the game on Sunday. We appreciate their loyalty and support. We praise the popularity of the Texans for their success and acknowledge the impact they can have on the Astros’ ratings as our season winds down.”

Chris Perez needs to go.

I was listening to the game at work and it sounded like Tom Hamilton wanted to legit fight him after blowing that lead.

That being said if it wasn't for Perez blowing the save we wouldn't have this magical moment...

We need to ditch David Freese so badly. Not because he is horrible, even though he kind of is... But because Matt Adams ia a BEAST. If he played full time all season, he'd easily be a 30 HR, 100 RBI guy. He's just epic.
