Vin+ 3,121 Posted July 7, 2014 So, it's been a couple years since the last time we did the user awards. Is it time to bring them back? For those that don't know/remember, here's the last one we did: http://www.thegridironpalace.com/forums/index.php?/topic/60187-tgp-user-awards-2012/ If the answer is yes, I guess the next question would be, do we want use the same template as we did the last time (fewer cats) or do we want to move back to what we did the time before and have a billion cats? What sayeth you, TGP?
Dutch 874 Posted July 7, 2014 Eh, why not. It's something to do during the offseason and it gives an opportunity for people to show their appreciation for some of the members here on TGP.
Zack_of_Steel+ 3,014 Posted July 7, 2014 I've always thought they were fun.

SteVo+ 3,702 Posted July 7, 2014 Bring 'em back! I don't think it's terribly important what format we use; these are fun regardless.
Bangy 19 Posted July 7, 2014 Yea bring them back my James Harrison award is getting a bit lonely.
CampinWithaMissingPerson 2,025 Posted July 10, 2014 Sure, as long as we update some of the Award names like for example Cam isn't Rookie of the Year anymore etc.
blotsfan 2,112 Posted July 10, 2014 I'm a lock to repeat in everything I won last time.
seanbrock 1,684 Posted July 10, 2014 I nominate myself for the Jon Gruden Hype Man award lol.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted July 10, 2014 I'd probably be more inclined to go back to the massive lists that we used to use. But tagging then becomes an issue.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted July 10, 2014 (edited) I'm down for helping out again this time around, Vincenzo. For the rest of you, here's the award list from last year. We probably need to update it a bit. For instance, the RoY award needs a new name, though "Sheldon Richardson Rookie of the Year Award" doesn't sound quite right. Maybe just the simple "Rookie of the Year Award?" Also, the negative rep award needs a new name. I think James Harrison is a little dated. Who to take his place...Ndamukong Suh? Dutch 874 Posted July 10, 2014 I think we should come up with a Best Debater award and call it the "Mark Cuban" award.
Bangy 19 Posted July 11, 2014 Suh would make a good replacement, best trash talker should be the Richard Sherman award.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted July 11, 2014 Suh would make a good replacement, best trash talker should be the Richard Sherman award. Good call. I agree. Also, why is the "best contributor" award named after Ali? Obviously Ali was the greatest, but I feel like we can find a better name for an award for contribution. Thanatos 2,847 Posted July 11, 2014 Ali contributed a lot. He contributed his fists to many people's faces.

badgers 380 Posted July 11, 2014 I feel like Bangy wouldn't even get the negative rep award this time around. Anyways, sounds fun. I don't recall doing this the first time around, I must have missed the entire thing.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted July 11, 2014 Andy Richter Award - Funniest poster David Harris Award - Most underrated poster These need to be changed too, IMO
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted July 11, 2014 Who's a comedian in the football world? Or the sports world? And who screams "underrated" in the NFL these days? Also, we should have a Roger Goodell Award for worst staff member.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted July 11, 2014 Rich Eisen? Kinda blanking on that one. Same with the underrated one.
