oochymp 2,393 Posted June 19, 2017 Ex-New York Jets WR Eric Decker agrees to join Tennessee Titans 8:01 PM ET ESPN.com news services Tennessee Titans and former New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker have reached agreement on a one-year deal, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Jets released Decker on June 12 after unsuccessfully attempting to trade the veteran wide receiver. don't know the terms, but this is an interesting pick up, after this offseason WR should be one of our major strengths, we now have Corey Davis, Rishard Matthews, Tajae Sharpe, Taywan Taylor, Eric Decker, Harry Douglas, Eric Weems, and Tre McBride, obviously not all will make the roster (and if Weems or McBride stick around it'll be just for special teams) but that's a pretty damn good group
Cherry 1,302 Posted June 19, 2017 Sean asked how many teams are six deep at receiver. Make that one.
RazorStar 4,025 Posted June 19, 2017 Well that's a legitimate number 1 for the Titans while Corey Davis is still learning the ropes. Mariota must be jumping for joy right now.
seanbrock 1,684 Posted June 19, 2017 When has Eric Decker ever been a legitimate number 1? lol
Cherry 1,302 Posted June 19, 2017 Corey Davis is the #
RazorStar 4,025 Posted June 19, 2017 Eric Decker has always been a talented dude, he's just been behind Brandon Marshall and Demaryius Thomas most of his career.
ATL_Predator+ 1,196 Posted June 19, 2017 Corey Davis is the #1 Negative The best TE in the NFL Delanie Walker is #
oochymp 2,393 Posted June 19, 2017 Corey Davis is the #1 he should be there by the end of the season, but it's nice to know we're not gonna be too reliant on rookies at the position, I love a top three of Davis, Decker, and Matthews, the order doesn't really matter, and as ATL pointed out we've also got a fantastic TE, and apparently Derrick Henry looked great running routes and catching in minicamp, exotic smashmouth may be a bit more exotic this year
Cherry 1,302 Posted June 19, 2017 Matthews? More like Taywan Taylor
oochymp 2,393 Posted June 19, 2017 Matthews? More like Taywan Taylor Taylor will be in the rotation for sure, but Matthews at least starts the season ahead of him
.AirMcNair. 1,232 Posted June 20, 2017 Taylor will be in the rotation for sure, but Matthews at least starts the season ahead of him He'll start and finish the season ahead of him. He's our #1 receiver until/unless Davis is great right off the bat. Over the final 8 games of the season he averaged 4.75 catches, 73.5 yards and .75 tds per game. Which includes a game against Denver where Mariota played like hot garbage, but Matthews still made the most important catch of the game. If you take that Denver game out his averages bump up to 5.2, 80.2, .85, which equals out over a 16 game stretch to be 83 catches, 1,283 yards, 14(13.6) TDs. Matthews was quietly one of the best receivers in football over the last half of the season. And was doing so with no one else at the WR position taking any pressure off of him. oochymp 2,393 Posted June 20, 2017 I'm hoping the team finds snaps for everyone, when you've got this kind of depth a position like WR then I think you've gotta use it to keep players fresh. But you're right, Matthews will probably stay ahead of Taylor in the rotation, as impressive as Taylor's camp has been he was a third rounder.

But you're right, Matthews will probably stay ahead of Taylor in the rotation, as impressive as Taylor's camp has been he was a third rounder. We really don't have depth at WR though. Matthews is the only guy as it sits right now that we can rely on. Decker should be good but that's assuming he stays healthy. Even if we luck out and Decker has a healthy year and hasn't lost too much of his game due to the injury, that's only 2 receivers we can rely on. Davis and Taylor are unknowns, Sharpe was a joke after the first 4 weeks, Douglas is done, Weems is STer if he even makes the team. Same goes for McBride. Our "depth" relies on two rookies panning out. Even if one of the rookies pan out, we're an injury away from having Douglas or Sharpe take meaningful snaps. And while last year's roster got by without using 3 to 4 WR sets on a frequent basis, I'm not sure that can be the case this year with Fasano gone. Cause even though Fasano was primarily a blocker, he had to be respected by defenses as a receiver too. We can't put Dennis Kelly out there in place of Fasano every snap and it work with the same efficiency.
BC 331 Posted June 24, 2017 Yeah like he said finally a guy a Titans receiving threat that we've actually heard of. Seems like an acquisition that filled a void that has been a void for a really long time, kind of like when the Ravens got Derrick Mason
