SteVo+ 3,702 Posted February 16, 2018 (edited) Our journey toward naming the best player in football begins with our Divisional Round, where we list the best players on each team. Remember you're identifying the best players in the NFL right now, so performance in the 2017 season should be a principal factor but not the only factor. Here's how it works: For each team, nominate who you think are the six best players on their roster, assigning +6 points to the best player, +5 points to the second-best player, and so on. Assemble a top 6 for all four teams in the NFC West. Feel free to discuss/debate the rankings of others; that's part of the fun of this process. My picks: +6 Aaron Donald +5 Todd Gurley +4 Lamarcus Joyner +3 Johnny Hekker +2 Jared Goff +1 Roger Saffold +6 Russell Wilson +5 Earl Thomas +4 Bobby Wagner +3 Richard Sherman +2 Kam Chancellor +1 Doug Baldwin +6 David Johnson +5 Larry Fitzgerald +4 Tyrann Mathieu +3 Chandler Jones +2 Tyvon Branch +1 Antoine Bethea +6 Jimmy Garoppolo +5 DeForest Buckner +4 Joe Staley +3 Eric Reid +2 Pierre Garcon +1 Reuben Foster Edit: Added Johnny Hekker. Packers Dynasty 2010 116 Posted February 16, 2018 (edited) +6 Aaron Donald +5 Todd Gurley +4 Jared Goff +3 Andrew Whitworth +2 Lamarcus Joyner +1 Greg Zuerlein +6 Earl Thomas III +5 Russell Wilson +4 Bobby Wagner +3 Doug Baldwin +2 Jimmy Graham +1 Michael Bennett +6 Tyrann Mathieu +5 Chandler Jones +4 Larry Fitzgerald +3 Patrick Peterson +2 David Johnson, best player but missed nearly the entire season +1 Tyvon Branch +6 DeForest Buckner +5 Joe Staley +4 Reuben Foster +3 Carlos Hyde +2 Pierre Garcon +1 Jimmy Garoppolo This division was the toughest with multiple great players missing time and a lot of young guys that did well but not exactly proven. I could put Sherman or Kam anywhere on the list after Wagner but decided to stick with the guys that played all of the season. David Johnson missed nearly the entire season so I have a hard time putting him as the best guy if 2017 should be the principal factor in ranking. As for the 49ers, guys like Staley, Garcon, and Hyde have been solid for years but Buckner and Foster both had tremendous seasons. I want to see more of Jimmy G before I go ranking him as the best.
