Vin+ 3,121 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) TIME: 08:20 P.M. ESTVENUE: Sports Authority Field The New York Jets know what to expect from Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos - an option-style offense that relies almost exclusively on running the ball. The trick is to stop this unconventional strategy and get a win, something only one opponent has managed to accomplish since Tebow took over at quarterback last month. Coming off a disappointing loss that put a dent in their chances of winning the AFC East, the Jets look to bounce back Thursday night against Tebow and the Broncos, who are suddenly in the thick of the AFC West race. New York (5-4) squandered an opportunity to take control of the East on Sunday night against New England, losing 37-16 to snap a three-game winning streak. The Jets' sloppy performance included a muffed punt and a missed 24-yard field goal. Mark Sanchez, who had two interceptions and was sacked five times, called an ill-advised timeout that led to a Patriots touchdown just before halftime. Coach Rex Ryan told NBC at the half the timeout was the "stupidest play in NFL history." The loss dropped the Jets one game back of New England, but New York must finish ahead of the Patriots to win the division because it was swept in the season series. "There's plenty of football left to play," center Nick Mangold said. "We're excited about the opportunity to get out there Thursday night and, you know, right the wrongs." New York's defense might not get the opportunity to correct any mistakes it made against the spread offense of Tom Brady and the Patriots, because it is unlikely to see anything similar compared to what it will get from Tebow and the Broncos (4-5). In Sunday's 17-10 win over Kansas City, Denver rushed 55 times - its most since 1978 - and finished with 244 yards on the ground. The Broncos ran eight straight times on their opening possession and Tebow attempted only eight passes for the game, completing two. One of his completions, however, was a 56-yard touchdown pass to a wide open Eric Decker in the fourth quarter that put Denver up 17-7. Facing this style of offense is going to be a stark difference for New York. Against New England, the Jets faced an opponent season-high 39 pass attempts. They limited the pass-first Patriots to an opponent season-low 60 yards on 28 carries but still rank 15th in the NFL against the run, allowing an average of 116.0 yards. In their three games since Week 8, the Broncos are averaging an NFL-best 246.0 rushing yards. "I think it's just one more thing for people to prepare for," Tebow said of Denver's unique offense. "It's not like we went out there and did a lot (Sunday) but it's something you have to scheme for, you have to prepare for and you have to be sound." The Broncos have won three of four games since coach John Fox named Tebow the starter, totaling 134 rushes and 57 pass attempts in those victories. They have moved into a three-way tie for second place in the West, trailing first-place Oakland by one game. "It's just a mindset. It's a low-risk offense. It's not an indictment on Tim Tebow or whoever our quarterback is," Fox said. "It's just whatever is working for us. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. We tried to possess the ball and keep our defense fresh." Fox may make some changes in the backfield, but it likely won't have an effect on how the offense is run. Backup tailback Knowshon Moreno suffered a season-ending torn ACL on Sunday, and second-year running back Jeremiah Johnson has been promoted from the practice squad. Willis McGahee, who leads the Broncos with 640 rushing yards, also left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, but Fox expects him to play. With Moreno and McGahee sidelined Sunday, third-string tailback Lance Ball suddenly became the primary back and the Chiefs still couldn't stop the run. Ball finished with career highs of 30 attempts for 96 yards while Tebow had 43 yards and a TD on nine carries. The Jets' offense also revolves around the running game, albeit not to the same extent as the Broncos. New York is averaging 125.5 rushing yards in its last four games, with Shonn Greene averaging 80.8. The Jets could be without LaDainian Tomlinson, however, after he left Sunday's game with a left knee injury in the fourth quarter. In the last meeting between these teams Oct. 17, 2010, Tomlinson ran for his second touchdown of the game with 1:13 remaining to give the Jets a 24-20 victory. While Sanchez threw for 198 yards and a TD with two interceptions, Tebow was used strictly as a runner with six carries for 23 yards. Copyright 2011 by STATS LLC and The Associated Press. BucD+ 648 Posted November 17, 2011 Per Rotoworld: Willis McGahee (hamstring) is expected to start against the Jets barring a setback in pre-game warmups.Nothing earth-shattering here. That has been the best guess all along. While hamstrings are always tricky, McGahee insists he feels "good" this week. Rotoworld ranks him 11th among fantasy backs against a Jets defense that is much more effective against the pass than the run. Vin+ 3,121 Posted November 18, 2011 Jets declared RB LaDainian Tomlinson, QB Kevin O'Connell, WR Jeremy Kerley, S Brodney Pool, CB Ellis Lankster, TE Shawn Nelson, and DT Martin Tevaseu inactive for Week 11 at Denver. Rookie Bilal Powell is active for the first time as the No. 3 back. NFL Network's Brad Nessler suggested that Shonn Greene could see three-down work, though we suspect Joe McKnight will function as the primary third-down back. Eron Riley is active as the fourth receiver with Patrick Turner bumping up to No. 3. Broncos declared TE Julius Thomas, FB Quinn Johnson, WR Quan Cosby, OG Manny Ramirez, T Tony Hills, DE Derrick Harvey, and S Rafael Bush inactive for Week 11 against the Jets. Thomas has been practicing fully, so he's a healthy scratch. On the weather front, the Denver Post notes that a wind that was blowing strong early in the afternoon has "died down some" over the past hour or two. We wouldn't make the elements a deciding factor in any fantasy decision.

BLUE 1,026 Posted November 18, 2011 Per Rotoworld.com: Tim Tebow completed 9-of-20 passes for 104 yards and added eight carries for 68 yards and the game-winning touchdown run to lead the Broncos to a dramatic 17-13 comeback victory over the Jets in Week 11.Like many an NBA game, Tebow is unwatchable until the fourth quarter. He entered the game fourth in the NFL in fourth-quarter passer rating. After three quarters of a scripted Tebow throwing duck-filled three-and-outs, he turned on the sandlot magic against a dominant Jets defense by accounting for all but three yards (57 rush, 35 pass) on a 12-play, 95-yard "drive." Tebow beat the blitz with a magnificent 20-yard scramble into the end zone to put the Broncos ahead 17-13 with a minute remaining. Unless John Fox lets him freelance throughout, don't expect much at San Diego until the final frame next week. Half a game out of first place, Tebow is now 4-1 as a starter after taking over a 1-4 team. Nov 17 - 11:44 PM
KiLaSix9+ 398 Posted November 18, 2011 The dude keeps winning. He's going to get all the credit for this one from the media but that defense and special teams is really turning into a fine unit.
BwareDWare94 723 Posted November 18, 2011 TeBoss? He just wins, baby. Maybe Al should have pulled the trigger to get him, somehow.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted November 18, 2011 Okay.. so let's give credit where it's actually due. As long as Denver has that defense, they will be giving their "QB" a chance to win it at the end.

How about not? They're 4-1 with TeBoss and it's clearly got a lot to do with him. He's a leader, and he makes his teammates believe that they can win. Orton obviously was a lot quieter in the huddle and wasn't much of an inspirational force. TeBoss instills faith in the entire team. I understand your point, but they're not 4-1 in their last 5 games with Orton at QB. Probably more like 1-4.

RazorStar 4,025 Posted November 19, 2011 Tebow is doing what he needs to in order to win, not turning the ball over. With Britton Colquitt doing his thing as a punter, and our defense stepping up (Having 3 good pass rushers with a few situational guys will do that), we can win slugfests like this. Thanatos 2,847 Posted November 19, 2011 Fuck Tebow. Just another media darling who doesn't deserve as much credit as he gets. And why is that Tebow's fault? He can't do anything about how the media portrays him, and it really shouldn't color your opinion of him. He is a leader, and one heck of an athlete. You can't argue with results. Sure the defense has played well, but Denver wasn't playing like this with Orton at the helm.
Thanatos 2,847 Posted November 19, 2011 (edited) This was a post by a frustrated Jets fan on NFL.com, who I can only hope is simply mad at losing this game: Once again the officials BOTCHED numerous calls toward the Jets. This is now the 5th time this season we've been victims of these horrible calls vs. Oakland, NE, Baltimore, NE again and now Denver. I think Jets management should send a letter to the commissioners office complaining about these game breaking calls. The league is to worried about fining players for hits that aren't even illegal when they should be focusing on the officials missing calls and making the wrong calls against the Jets. This is clearly the NFL returning the favor for hard knocks that Jets participated in saying there the boss. In the first quarter Holmes clearly caught that ball for the first down and Fox decided to challenge it and the replay officials sided with him. Holmes clearly had both hands under the ball. Also, Tebow clearly ran out of bounds on that 4th quarter touchdown run but it somehow went unnoticed. The NFL should at minimum fine the on field officials and replay officials and in my opinion suspend them 7-8 games. It's just unfortunate that they're out to get us and they're ruining the entire season for us. I would like to see strict enforcement towards the officials and replay officials doing the Jets games.
