BLUE 1,026 Posted February 25, 2014 Per Rotoworld.com: Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones strongly hinted RE DeMarcus Ware could be released. "There’s no question when you are where we are on the cap, even though we’ve had some new cap space added, and you have a defensive player that’s your highest paid defensive player, and he hasn’t been on the field much the last two years, that has to be considered," Jones said. "You can’t have it all." The Cowboys don't really have many options. They're nearly $20 million over the cap and cutting Ware would present the biggest savings ($7.4 million). Ware is just one of plenty tough decisions Dallas has to make the next two weeks. Feb 24 - 7:23 PM Source: Dallas Morning News
Cherry 1,302 Posted February 25, 2014 Jones is a fucktard. How do you get 20 mil over the cap and not make the playoffs? Even I'd be wiser with money.
BwareDWare94 723 Posted February 25, 2014 Cut Ware. Cut Austin. Cut Free. Just get rid of what doesn't perform (Austin, Free) or can't perform anymore due to injury (Ware).
Mathias 394 Posted February 25, 2014 Doug Free is under contract for $3.5 million and was damn good last season. Shut up.
BC 331 Posted February 25, 2014 Would any sane person actually consider cutting Ware? A player like that doesn't come around very often. Percy will probably play in around 30% of our games but you still saw what he was worth (or what we decided he was).
RANGA+ 1,210 Posted February 25, 2014 Sucks that Ware's been injured so much lately. You can really tell that he wasn't at 100% this season. But with that said, if the Cowboys do cut him, I'm sure plenty of teams would still be lining up.
Cherry 1,302 Posted February 25, 2014 Maybe Carr should be on the chopping block, if it doesn't cause a major cap penalty?
ATL_Predator+ 1,196 Posted February 25, 2014 Maybe the New Al Davis should cut himself. Do your team and the world a favor.
seanbrock 1,684 Posted February 25, 2014 I'd give him a shot in Philly without hesitation. We have the cap to sign him to a short deal on the chance that he can stay healthy and if he can we're a much better football team. Unfortunately for Dallas, they don't have that luxary. Guest Phailadelphia Posted February 25, 2014 DWare was nonexistent last season even when he was on the field. Cut him.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted March 4, 2014 The Cowboys have informed DeMarcus Ware they "definitely want to keep him," but not at his current salary. Ware is due $12.25 million this season, and $13.75 million in 2015. For once, it appears the Cowboys are actually prodding someone to take a cut, and not just kick the salary-cap can down the road in the form of a restructure. It's unclear how amenable Ware is to a pay-cut. Unless he's open to a massive reduction, it's quite possible he'll be granted his release. seanbrock 1,684 Posted March 5, 2014 I can tell you Dallas fans how painful it was to watch Brian Dawkins wear another uniform. Dawk was definitely at the end of his career but it was a travesty that he ever left. I know Ware hasn't been healthy and he's getting old and wearing down, but think about what it would be like watching suit up for somebody else.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted March 8, 2014 ESPN Dallas reports DeMarcus Ware believes he can "get a payday in free agency" if the Cowboys release him. In other words, he's not feeling pressure to take a pay cut. The Cowboys need Ware to significantly slash his $12.25 million salary if they're to have any breathing room in free agency. It's understandable why Ware would bet on himself — his résumé needs no inflation — but he showed major signs of breaking down in 2013. Teams would have to be in a gambling mood to commit big bucks to a 32-year-old (in July) pass rusher. Source: Calvin Watkins on Twitter
