Dutch 874 Posted May 31, 2014 http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000354806/article/josh-freeman-released-by-new-york-giants Josh Freeman released by New York Giants The New York Giants released quarterback Josh Freeman on Friday. The team signed the signal-caller to a one-year contract in April. The release continues a tumultuous eight months for the 26-year-old Freeman. He was benched and then released by theTampa Bay Buccaneers in October. Shorty thereafter he signed with the Minnesota Vikings, where he played one horrific game against the Giants. Big Blue signed Freeman not long after starting quarterback Eli Manning underwent ankle surgery. The conventional wisdom suggested that the Giants were grabbing arms in case Manning wasn't ready to thrown during offseason workouts. Manning took most of the starter snaps this week, essentially making Freeman superfluous. Cutting Freeman leaves Ryan Nassib and Curtis Painter as Manning's backups. According to NJ.com's Jordan Raanan, Nassib, the 2013 fourth-round pick, took the primary second-team snaps behind Manning in Thursday's workout session. Raanan relays that during one drill Freeman lined up the offense incorrectly and was immediately subbed out, with Painter taking his place. With Manning appearing back at full-go just seven weeks after ankle surgery, the Giants didn't need the extra arms in camp. Freeman's release paves the way for Nassib to be Manning's backup in 2014. Freeman, on the other hand, will look for a team hoping to squeeze one last chance out of a once-talented player with a turbulent career. That was fast. Crazy to see young players that showed talent take a free fall like this. That tape on Josh Freeman in that Vikings game is horrible lol.
Shotgun 442 Posted May 31, 2014 The guy has natural talent, but if the reports of him not really putting the work in the film room is right he's a pretty good representation of how the QB position requires a lot of hard work. He went from possibly being a top 12 QB after his 2nd season to not even being on an NFL team now. You can totally see it in his stats too. Under Morris they started putting more plays in the offensive playbook in his 3rd season and suddenly he turns to dog shit. Same under Schiano, decent season in 2012, shit in 2013 when they added plays. It's no surprise when he's expected to learn a full playbook like the Giants he can't even make it as a backup. oochymp 2,393 Posted May 31, 2014 I know he hasn't shown much lately, but is Curtis Painter really a better option? makes you think he isn't willing to take on a backup role, which at this point he has to be, but if that's the case why would he have signed with the Giants in the first place? this is just confusing
RazorStar 4,025 Posted June 1, 2014 The Giants also have young QB Ryan Nassib on the roster. That's prolly just telling how far Freeman is gone though.
Bucman 891 Posted June 3, 2014 Giants shouldve traded him for a first rounder.

Rumored to always enjoy the night life, drinking, drug rumors. That's why when he signed to New York I thought, "well that's a terrible idea, NYC night life is unprecedented." Turns out he didn't even make it to training camp. Welp.
oochymp 2,393 Posted June 4, 2014 I didn't realize there were off field issues, in that case hopefully (for his sake) getting cut by three teams in a year will serve as a wakeup call for him
Mathias 394 Posted June 5, 2014 It could be a wake up call for him. But getting thrown the fuck out of the door by 3 teams in less than a year isn't going to help his case for another shot if he ever has a come to Jesus meeting. He's done in the NFL. Tim Tebow had a better pro career than Josh Freeman did like I said he would. Right, NBB??????? Sig that. BOOM!
AllYouNeedIsLovie 377 Posted June 5, 2014 Looking more and more like the rumors of Freeman being a party animal are true. He doesn't care anymore and this was most likely his last chance in the NFL. It's a shame cause the guy had a lot of talent. Kind of makes sense why Raheem Morris liked him so much.

AllYouNeedIsLovie 377 Posted June 6, 2014 Why would I? Mathias was trolling when he made that comment and it didn't come true anyways. Tebow was so bad that he never played again after his 1 year of starting.
RazorStar 4,025 Posted June 7, 2014 Still won a playoff game and didn't get a shot to start again for curious reasons.
Turry 755 Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) Why would I? Mathias was trolling when he made that comment and it didn't come true anyways. Tebow was so bad that he never played again after his 1 year of starting. I can see Tebow getting on a NFL team again obviously not as a starter. But Freeman was so bad he got his ass cut by 3 teams during a calender year. Freeman should be done dude has no work ethnic whats so ever. and Also what Razor mentioned about the playoffs. Freeman should be done dude has no work ethnic whats so ever. and Also what Razor mentioned about the playoffs. The reason Freeman is so bad is because he doesn't give a shit and is more focused on partying. If he was focused on football, he would most definitely still be in the league, probably starting somewhere. Tebow got another chance with a team that had Mark Sanchez, Matt Simms and Greg McElroy as competition, but Tebow couldn't beat them out for a spot on the team. And then no one picked him up because he sucks. There's nothing mysterious at all about why he hasn't been in the league for a year now… he simply just sucks. Freeman's out of the league because of his awful work ethic and partying issues, while Tebow is out because he doesn't have the ability to be a quality NFL QB. Either way, both guys suck and had pretty shitty careers.
Mathias 394 Posted June 8, 2014 Except Tebow's was better because he singlehandedly won a playoff game. BOOM!
Cherry 1,302 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Except Tebow's was better because he singlehandedly won a playoff game. BOOM! He played all 11 positions on the field at any given time, along with being his own head coach, both coordinators, all position coaches, and also all referee positions. Along with that he provided both color and play-by-play commentary. Then he went on to play the Patriots but felt generous enough to let that scrub Tom Brady put up 40.
