oochymp 2,393 Posted July 7, 2016 ...Can someone explain what exactly the criteria is? Is it based off how they performed last year? Or how well we think they'll perform this year? Or just overall body of work moving forward? is it just me who thinks that part of the fun is seeing how everyone defines "best"?

DonovanMcnabb for H.O.F 2,241 Posted July 7, 2016 is it just me who thinks that part of the fun is seeing how everyone defines "best"? Fair enough. For next year: 1. Aaron Rodgers 2. Ben Roethlisberger 3. Tom Brady 4. Drew Brees 5. Cam Newton 6. Carson Palmer 7. Russell Wilson 8. Phillip Rivers 9. Andy Dalton 10. Tony Romo 11. Matthew Stafford 12. Eli Manning (neutral) 13. Joe Flacco (neutral) 14. Blake Bortles 15. Jamesis Winston 16. Matt Ryan

Thanatos 2,847 Posted July 8, 2016 Dmac, my original intent was to ask you guys for projections. I feel that is harder and would generate more discussion than simply "who was better last year." But, you can rank them however you please. I just wanted to talk some football with people. Having withdrawal.

(30) Ben Roethlisberger -------------- 4. (41) Russell Wilson Cam Newton 6. (42) Drew Brees -------------- 7. (74) Carson Palmer Phillip Rivers 9. (78) Andy Dalton 10. DonovanMcnabb for H.O.F 2,241 Posted July 8, 2016 Flacco #13 and Ryan #16 after their recent performance? It's a combination of recent performance and how I see them turning out next year. Flacco and Ryan were both two of the better QBs two years ago.
Thanatos 2,847 Posted July 9, 2016 http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/11252/joe-flacco This Joe Flacco was good two years ago?
DonovanMcnabb for H.O.F 2,241 Posted July 9, 2016 Flacco faced a lot of inconsistencies at the receiving position in 2014-2015 season, I'm pretty sure they dropped like 500 yards worth of passes. I'm not necessarily arguing that he was a great QB by any means, but simply that his numbers looked at worse above average with some bad WR play.

Thanatos 2,847 Posted July 10, 2016 It's not an exact science, I gave everyone who wasnt ranked in the top 10 an 11 score for that person. Obviously that's a bit flawed, as Carson getting an 11 from Razor when he has him at 26 is wrong, but I didn't see how else to do it as most people only ranked the top-10, (which is what we wanted to know anyway). If someone gets ranked 1st, that's 10 points. If someone gets ranked 10th, that's 1 point. If someone goes unranked, they get no points.

Ah, I could do it that way. I was doing it reverse, so lower the number is better. I will re-do this way and see if it changes anything.

This did literally nothing different, lmao. It just swapped the numbers around. 1. (80) Aaron Rodgers Tom Brady ------------------- 3. (69) Ben Roethlisberger ------------------- 4. (58) Cam Newton Russel Wilson 6. (59) Drew Brees ------------------- 7. (25) Carson Palmer Phillip Rivers 9. (21) Andy Dalton 10. Thanatos 2,847 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) I added BC's rankings in and then dropped the highest and lowest rating for each QB, so that outliers don't affect this as much. And I think we have some pretty good delineation here, so I present TGP's Top-10 QB List for 2016: The Big Two Tom Brady Aaron Rodgers These two are consistently at the top of everyone's rankings and seem to be a near unanimous choice for 1-2 going into 2016. The Third Wheel Ben Roethlisberger Big Ben has too much separation above and below, and so gets his own category. While one of our members rated him all the way at the top, the majority have him below the top 2 but still give him a lot of love comparative to his usual rankings. Best of the Rest Russell Wilson Cam Newton Drew Brees These three are simply unable to gain separation from each other or to close the gap on Big Ben. Two young mobile QBs with rocket arms, and a canny vet who can still air it out with the best of them. The Question Marks Carson Palmer Phillip Rivers Andy Dalton While TPG ranks all three of these guys in the top 10, there is a huge gap between them and the six guys above them. All three of them have major questions entering 2016. Will Carson play like he did the final three games, or the 15 before that? Will Rivers finally get a team around him worth anything? Will Dalton play like he did in 2016, or will he revert to pre-2016 form? The Honorable Mentions Eli Manning Derek Carr Blake Bortles Tony Romo While this is technically a top-10 list, there was such a large gap between Eli and Dalton that I felt it more fair to group him with the other QBs that had received multiple votes. He was far closer to these three fellows than he was to Andy. Eli is going to have some great weapons this year and he had a great year last year. Derek Carr is an up and comer that has a bonafide star to throw to. Romo simply needs him and Dez to be healthy, and you know he will put up numbers. And Bortles put a lot of things together last year, and now just needs to cut out some of the silly plays a young guy makes. There you have it: TGP's Top 10 13 QBs entering 2016. RazorStar 4,025 Posted August 20, 2016 Andrew Luck needs to earn his keep and play at the high level he is capable of consistently to be in the top ten. Given that last year was the worst we've seen of his so far, I guess he has nowhere to go but up. And as for Andy Dalton, he had an amazing season that showed up both on the stat sheet and on the win column. He needs to show he can carry that over, but his peak season has been higher than anything Luck has hit so far in his career.
RazorStar 4,025 Posted August 20, 2016 Luck will be remembered as a first overall pick who never lived up to media hype machine. Andy Dalton at the very least will be remembered as the "Good Ginger."
Thanatos 2,847 Posted August 20, 2016 Media has sucked Luck's dick since he entered the league. He's never been as good as they hype him up to be. Right now, Dalton is better than him.
